Water Curing - does it eliminate the need for a flush?
Like the topic says, does water curing eliminate the need for the traditional flush 2 weeks before harvest?
I'd prefer to only hear from people with experience in this area instead of people speculating as to what they think is best. Please save that debate for a different topic.

Water curing is an external process and flushing is an internal process. The plant is no longer living and does not process the water in which it is cured. If this was the case you could just "spray wash" your crop instead of flushing.

I know this isn't the place for this but I have a question. I don't really care about reputation but how did I get a negative rating for my previous post. Furthermore, how do I get one that says HELPFUL answer but NEGATIVE rating?

Someone didn't like your post is how.
A regular cure also involves moisture not being processed by the plant, and over time makes it smoother. Similar in effect, just not to the same degree as water curing. So why wouldn't a full on water cure eliminate the need for a flush? I'm not talking about spraying anything, I'm talking about water curing. |

I understand you are not spraying anything. I am fully aware of the water curing process and have tried several methods. The fact is that water curing is an exchange of moisture in which chlorophyll (a water soluble substance) is removed from the plant. The water is not processed on a cellular level as the plant is no longer living. Therefore, the minerals still unprocessed in the buds that are not water soluble cannot be removed. My point about spraying the plants is that you could theoretically bathe the buds in any fashion to circumvent flushing.
On the rep note. I understand how neg rep is given. I just don't understand why it says HELPFUL answer but it's a negative rating. How is it negative if it's helpful?

'Helpful Answer' is refering to where the rep came from. At the bottom of each post it asks, Did you find this post helpful?
If someone answers Yes, you will see Helpful Answer Positive Rating If they answer No, you will get Helpful Answer Negative Rating. It's just an automated forum thing, no big deal really. |

Yes a water cure would eliminate the need to flush. The problem is that you wash away all the terpenes and flavonoids we all love so dearly. So, if you don't care about flavor, then yes, a water cure will give you smooth smoke. It'll get you high, but you're removing all the dankness and bag appeal imo....

from my own experience yes a water cure makes weed as smooth if not smoother than flushed weed. but flushed weed that is cured slowly has a better taste/smell compared to water cured weed.. unflushed weed that is cured slowly can also taste good over time but i noticed first few weeks it tastes like lawn grass.

That's cool, I don't care about the taste on this batch. Alaskan Thunderfuck, it tastes like dirt and nobody likes the taste. I'm of the opinion it'd taste better with no taste at all. Just wanted to know if I'd still need to flush or if I could skip that step. Water cure it is.
Kush Farmer - thanks for the detailed explanation. That's the kind I like, verifiable details to back up what you said. Let's me know you're not full of shit like so many people here are. Thanks for the info. |
