i always thought too much inbreeding has had its faults across all species, human,plant and animal alike, heck i know some towns where half the populus is inbred and its f*cking scary what mess comes of it. but in plants is there a safe amount of times to inbreed or backcross before it starts messing things up?

The differences between Africans, Europeans and Asians is down to inbreeding. Which one is messed up? Remember that all humans are decended from the same female human, some inbreeding created us all. And no I'm not talking about bible stuff, it has been shown through the DNA samples taken from all over the world that we all had a common female ancestor, they named her Eve due to obvious biblical similarities.

it would go on a case by case scenario some will go longer than others it all depends on the strain.

so in a breeding project should you maintain and label all of your backcrosses just in case that final backcross proves disastrous and results in a "prince charles"-looking plant?

so BOG would have bx1, bx2 and bx3 populations......but when he tries a bx4 and gets a "prince charles" plant that has no chlorophyll and ears that stick out, at least he maintained the other backcrosses which he could test-cross with other varieties for some hybrid vigour?

of course space constraints might get in the way at some point i guess......

Yup. Inbreeding and Adaptation to a specific Environment (possibly Forced). We used to be Nomadic. Some of us can still feel this urge to roam but in most it has been quelled by Saturated Fats, Armed Borders and Alcohol. By television and things that seem to Expand our minds but truly inhibit our Creative Processes. We Are Hunter Gatherers ..... Getting too comfortable Letting those who wish to "Capitalize on Every faction of Life" keep us dependent on them to supply what we need might be our downfall. They do this by destroying the Old Ways and forbiding us to try and rekindle the Knowledge which truly Teaches us. Sound familiar? When the switches no longer work, the SUV won't budge and the 7-11 has not been restocked whatcha gonna do?

Great info in here - this is a look at the amount of work/time that goes into to breading a quality hybrid - IBL –

Thanks to ALL the bean makers that put the time and effort in learning the trade.

Rez - I have been involved with line breading Champion Labs & it is NOT for amateurs / it takes close to a decade to produce a ‘line bred dog’ that has desirable inherent traits ready to pass on.

If you intend to breed; dog breeders MAKE you sign a contract stating ‘conditions’ if not met - you can not register the pups – they also charge more for a dog that will be used in breading over a pet & are VERY picky about who the sell a breading/show dog to. I quickly found out with breading dogs – it takes money - space commitment – knowledge & some luck.

I can see some of the same principles apply to cannabis breading / I hope this thread gives some insight to the commitment it takes before deciding to throw some plants together and sell some seeds for money.

Is that like breading a Fish Stick? When John does his cousin in a corn field will they produce an In Corn Bred baby or In Corn Bread baby? If you did the same with your Labs how long would it take to Breed an In Bred CornDog? But wait those are Breaded too.....Now I'm Really confused.

What REZ says is quite true and he did recently advise me not to bother with the 4th bx of the sour bubble because of the bad recessives that could turn up but I told him I had this big clone and what to do with her? LOL...
