C99, Dutchgrown Seeds, and Depression
Hey guys, I struggle with depression (for which I'm currently prescribed anti-depressants, and mood stabilizers).
My goal is NOT to get off of my meds (Unfortunately, I know I need them). My goal is to add an additional medicine. I've been toking up for the past six months or so. I've noticed certain strains leave me a bit depressed afterwards (I can't say what strain it is, as I've no idea). Other strains have left me feeling really 'burned out' if smoked frequently. Are there any Dutchgrown strains you would recommend above the others for a 'happier' high, without a nasty come down, couchlock, or much of a 'burn out' feeling? I've got some C99 F2's on the way. Can anyone with a depressive personality type comment on this strain? Does it leave you with that awful burnout, when smoked too often? Thanks folks. I realize the medical forum might be better for this question, but I'm set on dutch-grown genetics for the time being, as I truly love how easy the cindy genetics are to grow.

Hello....I'm just beginning to categorize my varieties by medical benefit, and am greatly interested to hear from other med pt's what THEIR impressions are. Feedback in this area is vitally important in being able to include facts with each variety. For the moment, this is a bit lacking, but these blanks will soon be filled in.
![]() I would say Sweetest Cindy99 would be a good starting point for you, as I find (although I am not a medical pt) this variety to be a very happy effect, not too lethargic. Thanks you for your interest, and hope to be getting more medical benefit feedback on all my varieties as time goes by.

Thank you Dutchgrown.
If anyone here has tried LUI13: Do you find it to be a good pain/insomnia reliever? Does it compare with say, Black Domina, or the original LUI? I'm looking to have three different strains, which will correspond to my medical needs. Knockout: Heavy pain management at night. (Black Domina, or LUI-esque high) Balanced: Decent pain management to take the edge off daytime migraine pain; but still functional. (AK-48 sativa pheno did this for me) 'Uppers': Happy, functional high, without much burnout. (Kali Mist did this for me; hoping the C99 will provide much the same benefit) As it stands now, I'm thinking I'll go with the LUI13; Sweetest cindy 99 OR Ogre99; and C99 F2's. Does that seem like a fairly good setup for my particular needs? I realize everyone reacts differently, so I certainly wouldn't blame Dutchgrown should anything not work out for me in particular! Thanks again.

I might be inclined to suggest KQR as well....the qualities of C99, coupled with the G13 heavy indica....this one just might be your 'heavy night time' meds. KQR finished 3rd in the Breeders Indica Cup during the 420 Cup....there were many tough judges there, ones that takes a lot to impress, so you might not want to discount this one in your choices.

Hi, I also have an interest in this subject.
Unfortunately I have not been able to try out C99 yet, however there's something that came up in my research. Apparently you develop a high tolerance to it very fast. An unfortunate quality for all, but for some medical users this could even be dangerous if they have to rely on it exclusively (many personal medical growers may not be able or willing to grow large amounts). Just thought I'd throw that out there as something to consider... Would Sweetest Cindy99 be a better option in this respect? |

love, I've not heard that....and question the validity of such a claim...cannabis effects are quite subjective....and depends on the person.
Cindy has always been good medicine....there's just too many posts that say otherwise. I'd be willing to say that there's far more posts in favor of Cindy as good medicinal qualities than those which were made by those that were in the minority of receiving Cindy's full benefits, which could be from a variety of reasons. Cindy has a very stimulating effect...perhaps those who do not wish to raise their heart rate too much, it might be the wrong choice for them....and yes, the combination of Swt3 and C99 is a good balance, a happy and stimulating effect.

Really? That's good to know then.
But I do recall numerous people mentioning tolerance buildup as an issue with C99 (for example l33t and Trillion say so here: https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=159450&page=2). Don't get me wrong though, I'm sure that has very beneficial medical qualities, in fact that's the very reason why I've researched it. It's just that perhaps it might be a risk, at least for some people, to rely on this strain exclusively for medicinal needs. Thanks for the info on Sweetest Cindy99. It would be great if you could comment a bit on the tolerance factor of it. |

Theres actually a very informative thread around here somewhere where best strains for combating anxiety and depression have been discussed , and to the surprise of many people , even though cindy has a speedy paranoid euphoric kinda high (depending on when it was taken down probably) , the effects it has on depression and anxiety seems to be much more positive than most narcotic indicas.
I suffer from a lil anxiety myself at times , and i think the herbs that have the spiritual introspective qualities are the ones that treat mental illness's the best.Of course having the happy energetic qualities help too , which cindy 99 is well known for , so i would imagine that cindy would be a good medicine for for mental illness just my 2 cents |

KQR sounds like an excellent strain as well. Do each of the phenotypes have a fairly different high? Or are they all fairly knockout?
