Is it possible for a plant to not have a gender?

Hello all. Long time lurker, second time poster.

First off, I want to thank all you wonderful members that post and not lurk like my lazy arse. For without you I wouldn't have been able to construct such a wonderful stealth grow cabinet. I'll post some pics later but first to my plant problem.

Okay I started with seeds 8 weeks ago. 5 seeds were from an Amsterdam trip so I know they are good seeds. My plants are about 12-14" tall, I have figured out the sex of 4 out of the 6. One male which I figured out right away, and was pulled from the garden, 3 more had obvious pre-flowers.

Well I'm down 2 that I can't figure out, kind of looking for advice from a more experienced grower. One plant has some small pre-flowers on it, but on one particular nodes, it looks to have one very small ball, kind of like the male I had, except it's very small, like pin head size, and it hasn't changed in 2 weeks. Is this plant a tranny? Pre-flowers and a very small ball? I know pics would be great, but my iphone can't take clear enuff pics.

The other plant I have a gender problem with, it that is has shown no gender at all. Like No pre-flowers or no little balls, freaking nothing, kind of frustrating. This one was actually a bag seed, so no real loss I guess, except time and effort.

Here's my main question, I've got 5 plants, only have space for 4 once re-potted. So would you guys, take a chance on which plant? The possible tranny or the one that has shown no gender at 2 months from seed?

I really need to repot the plants since roots are starting to stick out the dirt on bottom. I was planning on switching to flowering in the next week or so...

BTW, a little info on my setup, indoor under a 250w MH, temps stay between 65-80 degrees. Humidity during most of the veg stage was 40-75% (travel humidifier in the cabinet) Using 'organic' soiless mix #1 with blood, bone and kelp meal. Watering with RO/DI water.

And again, Thanks to all the wonderful members and their previous posts that have gotten me thus far.

Hey Mary,
can you post pictures of the plants you are wondering about? Im pretty sure that all plants will have a gender, Ive never heard of one not being male or female, both yes, but neither never.

the females will show sex by 2-3 weeks depending. Usually the males show first so it's best to read them by the pollen sacks instead of by the preflowers.

Okay, the first two pics are close up of what I suspect is the tranny plant. I think they are small pollen sacks possibly? I'm just surprised they haven't grow at all. The other male I had, the pollen sack got bigger and more appeared after a day or two.

The third picture is of the two plants next to each other. Tranny on the left, and the plant I'm unsure of entirely is on the right.... It's a good looking plant small an bushy, but I'll be damned if I can figure out if it is male or female.

Eitherway, the plant on the left, while taking pictures I discovered another small "suspected" pollen sack (2nd pic) I would guess this plant is a hermmy and needs to go, any thoughts?

This last is a pic of the genderless plant, or well showing no obvious signs, I think there is a very small pre-flower, but it's too hard to take a picture of.

Any insight would greatly be appreciated.

I would put them on to 12/12 if you can and wait for this, should only take a week or 2.

I would take the chance on the one that hasn't shown yet. Females usually show later and that one pic looks like a boy.

If I understand you correctly, you have NOT flipped to 12/12 and are wondering why you don't know what their genders are? I'm never entirely sure of gender until about 7-10 days AFTER switching to 12/12. IME, preflowers can be deceiving. I never make a final decision until I see a little football or some white hairs.

I don't know about how fast gender shows before 12/12, but IME males generally show before females after 12/12. Whenever there's one that I just don't know about and all the rest have shown their gender, it pretty much always turns out to be female.
