Question for new growers Money spent?

i have been planning on my own grow for a while now but have finally got the space and the funds to do so.

My question is what is the average amount of money spent to start? just a small plant grow for personal use. i am a medical patient and want to see if i can save more money buy growing vs. purchasing and want a better quality bud. hate seeing the same strain all over the place or renamed to something different.

Gracias!

I like your avatar.

Let's see, I spent about $100 on beans so far, $80 on a can fan (could have built my own, but I was lazy), $48 on lights, and I need to get a new timer.
I had a cabinet, scavenged an old PC for a fan, used construction materials on hand in various ways.

Results?
5 female Early Wonder Skunk, still several weeks from harvest. At the moment there is about a gram on each of them, but this was a seed run, and I should have transplanted a long long time ago. I know mine are little mini stunted things.
But, I can put what seeds this yields back in some dirt and do it again the right way this time, now that I have everything I need.

Oh yeah, I have two males as well, that's how I'm getting seeds.

You can get away very cheap if you use Lowes Walmart and Thrift shops to build everything on your own. Could mix your own soil if your into that. The most important thing to spend $ on is genetics, lights and temp control.

600w SuperHPS is among the most efficient lamps, especially if you use it vertically. A grow that size would probably need a solid fan and odor control though. Good luck!

i am thinking of picking up a grow tent and going with a 400 or 600w light. made my own BB just need to get everything else and don't want to over splurge on stuff that i don't need or over spend on what i do need.

Airflow, humidity, temp, light, nutrients, this is what you need to grow pot.

How you get there is up to you, it can cost nothing or thousands.

I like to buy good equipment but same as anyone else funds are usually limited.

Build a good carbon scrubber, or shell out for a new one. Can't stress enough how important odor control is.
If you can pull room temp air and vent to atmosphere, it's cheaper than running a sealed room.
You can source fans, lights, even nutrients and containers on sites like craigslist.
Use your imagination, and read the stickys; they can help you choose the right equipment the first time.

Good luck to you, and enjoy your garden!

Find a setup on craigslist (600w or 1000w): $150
Cheapo exhaust fan: $25
20w cfl's: free generally
Timer: $10
Icmag auction seeds: $40
Good dirt: $20
Ferts: $30
Scavenge pots.

Or you can do it *right* for about $300 more (good vortex fan and carbon scrubber)

starting all over ....

I would do a 3x3 tent or 4x4
600 hps
fan filter combo
hempy buckets X 4 - 6

floranova bloom ... floralicious plus
good cheap seeds / gh female something

that would be my recommend to a new growing friend looking to start a personal

could do that for less than a g and have a solid basic setup. (avg yield ~1/2 - 3/4 lb a run)
Can be done cheaper, but this is my opinion.
