Hi Rubbanutz,

I think you will do fine with the DD in your area.
It's not the ideal plant to grow outdoors here (@ 52) as we have a lot of wind, rain, and fog at the end of the season so mold becomes problematic.
Or in other words, mold decides when it's harvest time instead of the maturity of the plant.

But it was grown with great success @ 42, and I have never had any mold issues indoors, not even with sub-par exhaust systems so you should be able to do very well also.

There are 2 somewhat weak points you should keep an eye on and that is:
1) Spider mites, as far as that can be a problem outdoors in your area, they seem to like the DD a bit more than surrounding plants.
2) brittle and hollow stalks that will need support, especially if they do well yield wise.

Gerrit,

Thanks man....great to hear it from the man himself.....and yeah...I hope i need to build a steel support system to hold the outdoor DD buds up.....HAHAHA i think they will do great too....Maybe I have been lucky and im probably about to jinx myself, but Ive never had spider mites on anything...indoors our out....the main thing that fucks up plants in my neck of the woods are caterpillars...they burrow inside the stems and eat from the inside out, killing whatever bud that is above the burrowing point....it sucks...but it does not happen every year....About 10 years ago...i had a plant that was 14 feet tall..I got 3.5 pounds off it, but lost I dont know how much, due to the caterpillars, I had to cut that tree 3 times just to get it through my front door....To bad no pics....young and dumb... I probably lost about a pound or so, maybe more off that 1 plant...I think alot of it has to do with certain strains, they seem to like the sweeter strains more......I havent been bothered with them that bad since, just losing a few buds/stalks a year now.....Well thanks again Gerrit....Always great to hear it from the breeder....good shit man....Take care.

By the way, all my DD's are growing with great vigour in veg mode...ive read a few post where they say DD is a slow vegger...not sure whats up their but on my end, they are fast and very healthy....i have to re-tie and bend the main stalk every other day.....Later and be well folks.

Hi Rubbanutz,

The loss of one pound sounds a lot less sad if you still had 3.5 pounds left ;-)
To bad you did not take pictures of that tree, although big plants aren't easy to work on, they sure are great to look at.
I know plants can get real big in your area, I've seen a Warlock plant grown in Cali that was absolutely amazing.
The name of that grower was ftblk or something similar, I think he got almost 5 pounds of it, I will have a look if I can still find that picture.

I grew DD outside at 44*N. I had one clone, it was either throw it away or put it outside to grow. Grew great, no issues until harvest time. It was not done by the end of Sept. which is when I need to harvest.
It was still decent smoke, and better than commercial. Allowed to finish, no doubt, it would be similar in quality to those I've grown indoors!
Biddy Early, outside, that's a different story, right now, my favorite outside strain. One more reason I miss the availability of Magus seeds.

Hello HYF,

Glad you like the Biddy too, I'm pretty fond of that one myself and often wonder why it's not a hype yet, maybe I should have priced it higher lol.
Have you tried the fem version already?
It's as good (or better) than the reg version except that it's a little bit later.
I've heard that availability at SB is about to be restored.

Just to update, my DD's outdoors are growing into huge bushes.....Its not been topped or bent in any way....The side branches are growing nicely, forming the bush.....Nice structure on them too.......They are doing really well, its been 95 degrees the last week, and they are still growing like crazy....
