What to do after an excessively long germination?
Hi guys,
just wondering what should I do if for some reason I can traplant right away a new seedling and it keep growing, in search for light, until in reaches sizes of about 4" tall? My pots aren't deep enough to keep such a tall "root" so I usually place them into the new pot and curl them into the soil. Done this with about 7-8 seedlings and didn't have any problem but when I have tried this with the three EasyRyders, two of them died (because the plant got broken during the curling). So I'm wondering if you use a better method to repair this accidents. |

bury it to the bottom without curling it.
the top should be staked to help it keep up. At the 5th-6th node mark it will stabilize and begin to harden its stem. Then on your next transplant, if you have any - bury it some more. |

but plants staked from the germination aren't less strong? I always tought the plant would not harden up as much as it would if weren't staked...

When seedling stretch they loose a lot of energy.
But they catch up later on. You should stake it only until it can support itself. If you have enough air circulation it would harden up just fine. Movement (usually created by wind) make the plant harden its stem. If its staked it moves less, but still moves. |
