help me out with lst please

ok so i have 3 strong purple kush growing right now that are about6" and also just acquired 2 very healthy blue dream plants that are about 12" tall... ive done alot of reading on lst how to do it but i still dont really understand what exactly to do. these blue dream were from clone and not topped of fimmed or anything so there is side alot of side branching... i was thinking some may be good candidates for clones if i need to trim any. do i want to tie down all of the branches? or just the big ones, and how tall should the main tip get before i tie it back down? any suggestions or comments are welcome

You want to keep all of a plant's growing tips at the same horizontal level. If one is allowed to dominate, it will continue that way. If you keep them all in check constantly, then none will dominate, and it will be easier to keep it level in the first place, because all tips are getting the same resources. How soon you tie them back down is up to you but the more often, the better. The more you do it, the less you have to do it, if that makes sense. A scrog screen can help a lot and save you tying stuff. I have a PK in a scrog right now.

I'm going to suggest not foliar feeding while the lights on. Many new growers do this and wind up causing more problems than they solve, it's just not needed.

The FFOF soil isn't completely compatible with the Sensi Grow, and you definitely need to adjust the pH of the nutrient solution up from where it will be naturally. For the most part, that soil has a good deal of nutrients in it, so take it really easy on the nutrients, 1/2 strength is fine. You didn't totally mess up there, but you do need to be careful mixing hydroponic nutrients into a biological system like soil. Personally, I think you'd have been better off with some organics, but everyone has a preference.

With the bulb, a 400w lamp stops being very effective at a distance of more than 28". Since you need at least 12" between the bulb and the canopy that leaves you with a depth of penetration of 16" directly beneath the bulb. If these plants get taller than 18 inches you're going to wind up with stunted growth on the bottom. Many growers choose to prune these lower branches (or clone them) to allow the growing energy to be focused on the parts of the plant that get plenty of light.

LST and Scrogging are both good options for increasing your yield plant for plant. Exposing the lower branches by bending the top of the plant can allow you to grow bushier plants that can use more of the available light. I'd say try to keep them trained down to keep them around 12" tall or so. Wait until they are a few inches taller and then bend down the main stem. Allow the other branches to get taller and when they are above 12" train them back down. Start flowering when the area becomes 51% full and allow a good 70 days from 12/12 to finish your plants.

LST requires you know a bit about how the plant grows already. Scrog is a a bit easier to manage for a first timer. Check out your local nursery for tomato trainers, I found some really great screens at mine.

Harvest wise I'd suggest you don't get your hopes too high. Low is 3 ounces, high is 8 ounces. If you pull more than 8 then you did everything very right.

Scrub's got you covered. Just for fun, you may want to poke through these to see what others have done.
