Electrical Question first time grow

Hi everyone new to the forum just started my first grow and having horrible problems with old electrical and ballasts with sideways plugs (250v 15a male ends).

I was just thinking, would you be able to take a 240v stove plug male end (one end is the male end you would plug into the stove/dryer outlet and the other end bare wire) from there run the bare end into a t104 type timer as the power supply? If not not what would I need to do to achieve what I'm thinking. My knowledge of electrical is not bad but I have a healthy fear of it.

Thank you.

Well running a new wire and breaker isn't all that hard to learn if you have room for it in your box. Wich I would recomend if old wire isn't in good shape. If you could hire somone it would be best, bbut not always an option. I'm by far not certified to do such work but have for years. As far as plugs go there are differnt styles of plugs that can chossen to fit what ya need. I would really hate to give bad advice there are plenty of sparkys on here that would be glad to help but please make sure you get a good answer before you just wing it. Best of luck bro

you want to use a moulded prewired cooker plug and wire the "bare ends" lol to a timer+ballast? what part of wiring up a normal plug dont you get? you just want a hps on a timer? you can use a normal wall socket for all hps ballasts, you dont need to goto the stoves power socket. i assume you have a timer that needs wiring up and not a more usual plug in type.

anyway explain more about what you're doing if you want help, no one is sure what you're trying to achieve :/

Well what I was trying to get at was that I wanted to run a 14/3 wire from my breaker straight to my own sub box or just a timer then from there run my outlets to power my ballast's. I understand that I have to make sure I run it from a 2 pole breaker so that I get 240v outlets. My problem is that most of the outlets in the room is 120v my ballast have plug ends that are 250v 15a.

The thing about stove plug outlet is, would I just be able to use that wire the other end into a sub box or timer and then from there run outlets to power ballasts? so it would be

240v stove outlet(female)<stove plug into outlet (male end)< other end of stove plug wire(run into sub box or timer)<240v outlets<ballast

hope that make sense.

Yes that would work you just have to make sure you don't over load the amps add the amps of every thing your running and make sure its not more than 75%-80% of the braker and don't overload the wire ratting

Thanks... just have to keep my amps in check. I will just change the breaker in there and make sure that amperage is high. Thanks again.
