Autodesk Homestyler is a free web based program used for designing a house or room. I have only played with it a little bit but it is very easy to use and seems fairly detailed. You can also save your designs and reload them later or print out your design. Enjoy

i used to use autodesk animator about 15 years ago to make silly animations with my friends.

Nowadays when I need to sketch something out, I've been using Google Sketchup. It's free, too.

And you can build things three dimensionally.

Pretty easy to learn and they have a "help mode" which shows you how to use the different tools in the program.
