Got my first greenhouse!!
Well as the title states i got my first greenhouse and its ready to go. I'm young so this was a perfect solution to our hot weather in a tropical setting. It is a 12'x7'x7' green polypropylene tent with 6 vents on the bottom and was $100. I won't be using it immediately for growing bud until i get myself acclimated to the differnces. The tent stays nice and cool regardless of our weather, the shady plastic helps. Not to mention those 6 vents really keep a constant flow of fresh air. I would just like a way to keep it cooler when the warm summer days com. Any ways to go about this such as 20% white shade cloth?
Does anyone have any tips for a first time greenhouse user? I'm very excited to start using it. I'll get pics in a couple of days if anyones interested.

Shade cloths help. Where I am we get temps in the 100s every summer. With our heat I need a fan running all day long. Heat rises so if you can create a vent in the roof.

If your relative humidity is low you can get a swamp cooler that will knock the temps down a few degrees for little expense.
Congrats on the greenhouse BTW, that is something I aspire to as well. |

My temps dont get in the hundreds but it feels like it. humidity is a big problem where i live and is typically 80%+. The greenhouse seems to be doing well, its a little cooler than outside and I look forward to whats to come.

Would it be a bad idea to cut a slit in the top and line it with regular patio screening? This way i have a way to vent through the roof. I think i have a new found love for greenhouses though.
I put landscape cloth underneath to act as a floor to seperate the grass form my gereenhouse. One more step to keep out bugs, even if it just slows them down. Its really starting to come together, i did notice its getting too hot in there though. Whats the best way to add ventilation to a small portable greenhouse in a hot humid enviorment?

Venting through the roof really does make a difference. I love my GHs. A fan also makes a big difference I don't have a lot of humidity here but GH's tend to get humid even in dry areas also a fan helps strengthen the seedlings stems. If you can not get an electrical fan in there you can rig up a solar one. Shade cloths work too.

True you would need to spend around $200 to get a solar set that that can really move the air. You could build your own for less but it still is pricey.

your right drelow but my screen name actually has nothing to do with money which i think is funny. Most of the kids my age think its about money. I just thought it takes big balls to talk about my grow and everything on the internet, not to mention i suck at picking screenames. Lat is 25*N Thanks for the idea on harbor freight that stores great.
