Talking Sweetest Cindy 99

Hello all,

I am here today on 420 to announce the beginning of germination for 5 Sweetest Cindy 99 beans, graciously gifted to me by DG. I know I could have waited till the 28th to germ them for BEST results, but I figure the Canna Fairy will smile down on me, for my offer of respect, by germing 5 of her babies on 420, and with her blessing I will be ready to go into soil by the 28th..

So grab your big comfy chair, and hang around for the grow......

Wheeeeee:dance 013:

^^^ jala is in the right place here to see that these flourish for her. These are easy to grow.

jala....thank you for starting your grow thread. Any questions or help along the way just ask! How kind of you to change your dates to 4/20.

Anxiously awaiting to see more as the weeks progress.

Sunday April 25, 2010...Update

OK so on the 20th I put the above beans in to germinate. On the 22nd I had to put them in peat pucks (not the name) cause they had all sprouted tails and half had shed their shells already. the following pictures are from last night and this morning.

LAST NIGHT!!

THIS MORNING!!!

So far so good on the ease of growing...Sorry about the poor quality pictures. Only have my cell phone camera to use..lol

I really believe you could call this a 'just add water and watch grow' variety....lol...you are going to love the ease in which these
go along for you! Keep a watchful eye on them and they will reward you! Give them what they ask for...when they ask....and in moderate amounts, you will have one kick ass harvest soon!

Thank you and looking forward to more updates! They are jumping to get growing!

Hey there jalajaslet .....saw you posted in BGC you only had one to sprout, although you stated all germed fine and had 1 to 1-1/2" tails.
What's up? If you have a grow problem....let's see what it might be.

Thanks!

Hey DG,

Ya know it is the strangest thing, I had good tails on all of them although only the only had shed it's shell when it went into the peat pucks. Only that ONE ever continued to grow. I put the other 5 in on the 28th, since it was the best time of the month. They all sprouted tails and dropped their shells and I then put them in the peat pucks, I see one of those starting to stick it's head through the soil now, but only one. I will take some pictures in the next few days and get them posted on here for ya....

Can you give me some specifics....I don't like a mystery, there's always a reason when things don't go well....and I gathered
from your past posts that you are a novice grower perhaps? So let's see what the problem could be, as this will help you in future grows.

I think it would be helpful for you to detail what all was done with the germinated seeds. Such as, were any of the root tips broken during transplant to the pucks, how deep were they placed into the medium, how wet were the pucks when transplanted, were they kept wet, moist, or dry, temps, ph, humidity, etc.

There's a lot of really talented growers here in my forum, between them and me, I'm sure we can help figure out what might have happened.....if it's beyond help or hope for survival for those babies.

sometimes those peat pucks need to be kneaded a bit to break them up inside, maybe try some seedling mix for sprouting or put the seeds in the pucks after a brief soak but before they sprout a tail, the root is very delicate when it first emerges...good luck!!
