Mailing seeds
Hey, hopefully this kind of discussion isn't against forum rules, if it is I apologize and it can be deleted.
I'm just wondering what the consensus is on mailing seeds from the USA into Canada. I'm thinking of getting some beans sent up to me, but kinda concerned about the border causing problems for me, what do you all think? If it was within Canada I wouldn't think twice about it, but from the USA is kinda scary for some reason. Thanks for any advice |

why not get seeds from your side of the border? tons of seeds are made, grown, bred in canada.

These seeds are a gift from a friend in the states is all. I thought I'd take him up on his generous offer and I always love to try new strains..variety is the spice of life after all! |

It's all good, as long as it's a small package (bubble mailers work great) and it doesn't smell it's not gonna get profiled, and is just another piece of mail to them. They are more worried about the mail coming into the states I am sure.

Get a safe addy...I'd estimate you got a 97+ % chance of getting them.

I had some seeds coming from the uk intercepted by customs. I didn't get a letter or anything from customs, but the sender did. Hopefully my name isn't on a list or anything. The worst part is there was an invoice and visa receipt in the package as well. Should I be worried?

Your name is now on customs computerized watch list if one exists.
Don't try to cross the border with any illegal items if you are so flagged. Customs may share this information with the RCMP, but I would think that they have better things to do then chase down this very minor lead. Perhaps rent a postal box next time with an assumed name and address if possible?? I'm fortunate that my good buddy is exempt and we share all seeds purchased. Better to order within Canada as there are lots of seed dealers..

No there is not a chance in hell that everyone who gets a Love Letter from customs gets put on any kind of list or has their male screened more in the future or anything like that.
I know tons of people who get their prescriptions through the mail on a monthly basis. Some of them will get two Love Letters in a months time and then their next six months worth of orders come through no problem. Seriously this one guy has more than fifty LL's saved up at the house. As long as you don't send them back in they just destroy (yeah right) your contraband and go about their business. |
