ICMag 420 Cup Trip ~ Through Dutchgrown's Lens
Here were are...some of us anyway, with many fellow growers, breeders, and friends not being able to attend due to the volcano in Iceland erupting and halting most all airline travel. Such a bummer, but hopefully all that are not here, for whatever reason, will enjoy what I put forth through my words and images.
![]() I will forewarn you in advance, that some pics I post in this thread might be less than stellar, reflecting the effects of a bit too much indulgence in smokeables by the photographer. ![]() My journey to the cup began on Wed, the 14th when I scooted up to the UK from the Costa del Sol area of Spain to meet up for a road trip by car to Amsterdam! But as we all know, planes stopped flying so there would now be no road trip since Gypsy was stuck in SE Asia, and he was the driver. I quickly scrambled to make alternate plans and managed to get one of the last remaining seats on the Eurostar train for Saturday. Having plans to go by car, I had not packed light...one suitcase alone being full of DGS 420 Cup T-shirts. Now how was I going to get myself, and all my luggage to Amsterdam by train alone? Needless to say there's quite a few bruises up and down my legs as a result of having to manhandle large pieces of hard side samsonite luggage by myself. But, where there's a will there's a way. I arrived at St. Pancras train station very early (3 hours prior to departure) and was faced with a madhouse of fellow travelers...an elbow to elbow packed station, with a queue of hundreds in front of me. Was I going to get through this queue and make the train on time? I feared missing this train due to all Eurostar seats for Saturday already being sold out. Those who did not have a confirmation were repeatedly advised to leave the station over the public address system. When I finally reached the top of the queue there were less than 20 mins to departure. I batted my lashes and pleaded with this tall English Eurostar fellow to help me make the train on time and he smiled back at me while brisking me through customs. ![]() I was finally on my way, seated in the 1st class section of the train...since that was the only seat left when I called, economy was already fully booked. I took this time to relax a bit, have a glass of champagne and a bite to eat, knowing that in 3 short hours I would be arriving in Brussels where I would have to again handle all my luggage up and down stairs to board the Dutch rail system taking me to Central Station in Amsterdam. By the time I reached my train connection the whistle was blowing, signaling to close the doors. I shouted out 'WAIT....please WAIT' practically falling down with luggage in tow. Luckily the fellow signaled with his whistle again and the train waited for me to make it inside. Whewww! I felt like I'd just run a marathon. Within a couple of hours, the beautiful Dutch countryside was in view out of my window where I was seated. Ahhhh yes, Holland in the springtime. So I took out my camera and snapped a few images of the colorful fields. The Netherlands is quite famous for it's tulips. They are grown everywhere, in all colors, and make for scenery like these images I captured below: I'll be back making updates as events progress here, and sharing images I capture with my Canon 50D with you all. ![]() ![]() DG |

Arriving into Central Station at 5pm I was tired and weary from all the days travels and just wanted to get to the hotel. So off I sped in a taxi and got checked into my room.
Soon it would be Sunday and I wanted to be at Mila's (The Pollinator Co) for the afternoon get together smoke session....I really wanted to start tasting the flavours! After giving a nice hug to Mila who was there to greet everyone, I sat with Ed (Delta 9 Seeds) and we chatted a bit, with him offering up some of his incredible bubble and buds. Ed is very much into the medicinal side of cannabis and hash. Whatever you are handed to smoke from him is always a joy. Thank you Ed....he's such a sweet guy! Soon there were many faces about, all with incredibly stoned looks, mine included. ![]() Shortly thereafter a voice from across the table said that he had a gift for me. 'It's Browzer', he exclaimed, and told me how he had driven up through Belgium and had a present for me from there, that he then passed across the table, all wrapped up very pretty. ![]() Hmmm....what could it be....let's see....Belgium? Gift? Wrapped box....why yes, it must be something sweet! I quickly opened the pretty box and found this: |
