Just wondering if anyone here is in the Biotech/Pharma/LifeSciences/GreenTech/DotComs around the SF Bay Area?
I'm really, sorry but this isn't SPAM, seriously- I'm just trying to see if anyone is tackling things through the lense of academicaly/industrial trained scientists and engineers.
I've been in the bush for about 7+ years now and Life Sciences for ~5ish. I'm in the SF Bay Area (aka Biotech Bay/Silicon Valley) for all of that. Keep in mind the Bay is Big Sur-Sonoma in this case.
I think we all have a different yet useful perspective on things as scientists and engineers. I'm seeing some truly "multidisciplinary" approaches to our current problems and I'm wondering if anyone is willing to share techniques- i.e. I know people that are trying to run (c)GMP (minus the FDA) clean rooms with sterile suits, homemade air locks, UV decontamination, pathogen testing etc. in this field. Myself- I would doubt anyone has gotten crazy into microfluidics, plant cell culture, or plant genomics, but you never know. I know of a few farmer owned companies.
Myself, I was working on trying to work a positive/negative pressure set up with common ventilation but some interesting directions and outlets. Keep them pests out. Additionally, I was also involved in some low cost genotyping work on some bushes, to help take some guesswork out of bushes, and make life a little bit easier. Unfortunately, this isn't practical for the common farmer, nor is it cost effective for anyone else.

There are some threads on plant cell culture in the Breeder's Lab section, there is interest, but I haven't seen any "yes, I'm doing it" threads yet.

In Growroom Design, you'll find a ton of threads discussing or referring to growing in a "sealed" room AKA: CEG - Closed Environment Growing. Plenty of people out there (myself included) running sealed rooms.
