Ventilation and Led's
![]() Just your thoughts regarding how to get away with ventilation on the cheap , I am currently using a 5x2 closet with a 90 watt led . Because the led hardly throws any heat would one of those computer fans do the trick?

You need a suitable extractor fan regardless of lamp and environment (indoors).
Lots of people use P.C fans but i would recommend investing in the proper extraction system. |

A PC fan wired to a suitable AC to DC transformer/power plug would work well. I've used one with a timer, 15 minutes on every hour, with good results. I know from personal experience LED's produce very little heat. So, I'd mount it low to bring in cooler air / more CO2 and let the the heat vent through a screencovered exhuast. Those cheap dryer vents, with a attached vent tube, and a little trap door work pretty well. Just super glue a small spacer on the little trap door, to keep it adjar, since your fan will produce almost no positive pressure on your grow closet.

You need proper extraction (a suitable extractor fan) for your grow space a P.C fan maybe ok for inducting air but extraction is of more importance.
Meaning an intake and a suitable extractor fan reqd/suitable for your cubic feet of grow space/room. (luck). |

Ludacris, LED's stay so cool you can place your hand on them, and they only feel warm, not hot. They do not produce enough heat, to even facilitate efficent rates of photosynthesis in many cases.
When greenhouse growers starting using them, they found their biggest problem was a lack of warmth. Even though LED were saving them big time on electrical use, compared to HID's, this was soon found not to be a positive, since many of them had to add a source of heat (which the HID's had provided on their own in the past). Turning the closet into a wind tunnel, will just add to this problem. A simple inlet fan, with a passive exhuast up top, will fill the bill quite easily, no need to spend money that works against you. If he were running a HID, then I'd be the first to agree with you.

With leds you don't need to exhaust heat, but you still need to filter the smell, so you still need some kind of filter fan setup. Maybe just recirculate?
