Quick Note
I'll do a real update later, but a quickie here.
The plants are stretching quite a bit, but not unmanageably. I put the trellis (screen) in place yesterday. I'm at almost 4 weeks flowering, which means the stretch should be slowing down pretty soon (assuming this variety follows the usual 40% stretch / 60% flowering pattern). As expected from a sativa, the flowers are a bit sparse at this stage. I rearranged the supplemental lighting when I put the screen in, so the wattage is now 652 for 8 sq feet (81 watts of lights per sq ft). Since I rooted several extra clones, I broke off a bit of one of the extras to do a quickie test smoke (this was off one of the ones flowered from the day the clone was cut, so it was actually at 33 days flowering at the time it was cut). I used it for my wake & bake so it was the first thing I smoked for the day. Not bad for so early in the flowering cycle. A bit harsh, but I expected that. I suspect I am really going to like this one when it's finished! So far I've had no problems with nutes. I'm running just a bit lighter than normal (800-1050 instead of 1050 to 1200) since I know sativas generally don't like heavy nutes. |

01-08 (v 69, F30/22):
Flower Res: 860ppm, pH 4.6. Added 1.5 gal water, nutes 0/2/4, 12ml pH up; 74F. Room temp 78.3F high, 67.1F low; humidity 25L/ 50H. Garden temp 89.5F high, 71.5F low. V1: 350ppm, pH 4.2. Added 2c water, nutes 0/1.5/3; 15 drops pH up; 690ppm, pH 5.5, 76F V2: 490ppm. Added 1c water, nutes 0/1/2; 680ppm, pH 5.7, 76F V3: 390ppm. Added 1.5c water, nutes 0/1.5/3; 610ppm, pH 5.5, 74F Room temp 77.2F high, 69.1F low; humidity loL/ 25H. Garden temp 79.6F high, 71.5F low. C2: Added >1qt water; 560ppm, pH 5.3. C5: Added 1c water Room temp 79.9F high, 71.4F low; humidity 36L/ 50H. 01-09 (v 70, F31/23): Flower Res: pH 5.1. Added 1 gal water, 8 ml pH up 01-10 (v 71, F32/24): Flower Res: 1080ppm, pH 5.3. Added 1 gal water, 3ml pH up; 72F. Room temp 72.9F high, 66.4F low; humidity 31L/ 39H. Garden temp 84.6F high, 70.7F low. Filter on pump intake started getting blocked again. The pump is moving around in the res instead of staying still on its suction cups, and it's forcing the hose all the way down into the filter as it creeps forward. I removed the filter, cleaned it, replaced it, and repositioned the pump. Will need to put the SCROG screen up pretty quick. The JB's are stretching quite a bit and are just about ready to be trained to the screen instead of just LST. V1: 500ppm. Added 2c water, nutes 0/1/2; 560ppm, pH 5.4, 71F V2: 610ppm. Added 1c water; 590ppm, pH 5.8, 72F V3: 560ppm. Added 1.5c water; 530ppm, pH 5.5, 70F Room temp 75.8F high, 65.1F low; humidity loL/ 22H. Garden temp 76.9F high, 67.3F low. C2: 580ppm. Added 0c water, 15 drops pH up; 530ppm, pH 5.4. 01-11 (v 72, F33/25): Put the screen (trellis) in place tonight. Rearranged the CFL's to fit the new layout; now 6 supplemental CFL's for a total of 652 watts. Still 5 warm & 5 daylight strip fluoros; all CFL's are warm. Some kind of foam in reservoir; I'll change it out this weekend. Added H2O2 for now. Later in the evening - the foam is gone, so the H2O2 seems to have taken care of it. I'll still change the res this weekend. 01-13 (v 74, F35/27): Flower Res: 1030ppm, pH 5.3. Added 1 gal water, 4ml pH up, H2O2; 69F. Room temp 77.2F high, 67.3F low; humidity 27L/ 50H. Garden temp 92.9F high, 70.9F low. C2: 620ppm, pH 3.8. Added >1qt water, nutes 0/1.5/3; 660ppm, pH 5.1. Room temp 80.8F high, 70.5F low; humidity 40L/ 56H. 01-14 (v 75, F36/28): Moved the JB10-FL, JB2-FL, and JB3-FL clones into the Rubbermaid garden so the nursery can be used for the next set of seeds. Cloner 2 - Empty 01-15 (v 76, F37/29): Flower Res: Changed res. 24 gal RO water; nutes 0/6/12, 12ml pH up, H2O2; 840ppm, pH 5.5, 67F. I also rebuilt the intake filter on the res with a larger section of filter material and a plastic support on the inside to keep the suction from pulling the filter material in toward the hose. This is working much better. Room temp 75.8F high, 66.4F low; humidity 27L/ 50H. Garden temp 92.5F high, 70.0F low. V1: 590ppm. Added 1qt water; 500ppm, pH 5.4, 74F V2: 550ppm. Added 2c water; 510ppm, pH 5.7, 75F V3: 480ppm. Added 1c water; 460ppm, pH 5.8, 73F Room temp 74.3F high, 70.9F low; humidity loL/ 25H. Garden temp 81.4F high, 69.1F low. 01-17 (v 78, F38/30): Flower Res: 870ppm. Added 1 gal water; pH 5.5, 70F. Room temp 75.8F high, 65.5F low; humidity 31L/ 54H. Garden temp 92.3F high, 68.6F low. The stretch has just about stopped & budding is commencing. V1: 520ppm. Added 2c water, nutes 0/1/2; 670ppm, pH 5.2, 70F V2: 490ppm. Added 1.5c water, nutes 0/1/2; 610ppm, pH 5.7, 71F V3: 470ppm. Added 1c water, nutes 0/1/2; 590ppm, pH 5.5, 69F Room temp 75.2F high, 67.5F low; humidity loL/ 29H. Garden temp 82.1F high, 68.9F low. 01-19 (v 80, F40/32): So much for cooler winter temps - look at these! This is January? Flower Res: 840ppm. Added 1 gal water; pH 5.5, 77F. Room temp 77.6F high, 67.9F low; humidity 26L/ 53H. Garden temp 100.1F high, 72.0F low. Collected the last pollen from JB5 and allowed the cats to demolish the remains. A good time was had by all. Except JB5. V1: 640ppm, pH 5.1. Added 1qt water, 3 drops pH up; 77F V2: 620ppm. Added 2c water; pH 5.5, 78F V3: 620ppm. Added 2c water; pH 5.4, 76F Room temp 78.7F high, 69.7F low; humidity loL/ 25H. Garden temp 92.5F high, 74.8F low. There isn't much to see yet with the screen in place; the plants are pretty well done stretching and I'm just starting to let the buds grow up above the screen. Hopefully I'll have some nice bud pics to start posting in the next couple of weeks. The high garden temps are because I moved the remote sensor for the thermometer closer to the lights. The temps at canopy level are lower. Once the plants grow up above the canopy, I'll move the sensor again. |

ambre,
I really enjoyed reading your thread, espicially the res management details. Very helpful for myself whom is just starting out with DWC buckets. the PPM, PH, and Addback data is very excellent. I will bookmark this thread and use it as a refrence guide in the future. I am using hydroton in netcups, and I do pre-soak it, with white vinegar. It seasons the rocks well and I have minimal influence from them during my first grow with this style. BTW, i figured that out on my own, the hard way. Unwashed rocks are a crop wrecker....:( |

Great test grow, thanks for leaving us hanging. If I ran this forum I'd remove threads peeps can't , won't, don't finish. I love reading 3 pages to get nowhere. What a waste of time.
