I used to have one. We called it DAC, short for Dumb Ass Cat.

Haha she's a wee tyke!

Good find to Mrs highlander, we (my girl) basically rescued a dark tortoise shell calico. I think it was and found a home for her via craigslist. Im as much for saving good genetics in cats as I am saving good genetics in plants, they take a bit of getting used to though!

Call her white widow, she's covered in white with amber and orange hairs.
She looks sweet you could call her sweetest cindy?

Way I see it, dogs are a companion that will come to understand, learn have basic communication with you, and respond to their name. They are (mostly) owner dependent.

Cats on the other hand are barely companions, they will still play with you and show affection in little ways but usually only at their desire. They are not the ready and willing dedicated soldiers that dogs are. A cat can come to know their name, but usually they won't come to their name unless you use food as the lure. They are mostly owner independent.

Personally I like the fact that most cats seem to carry their own attitude, only expressing affection when they care to. They're a bit less predictable than dogs and would barely conform to orders or a routine. Cats won't defend you from any intruders though, or block an entrance to defend its master. Cats don't really have masters, masters to them are the food providers, so it feels more natural to me - like I'm just observing a natural creature.

Cats are more like a Scott.
Dogs are more the the English.

That's why I got a cat.
Mine is rescued too, follows me all around.
I name my cats after their behavior, so can't help.
