First Time Grow - Cannacopia Pommelo
This is my first time growing, it's only a very small personal grow. I bought these Pommelo seeds from Hemp Depot over a year ago, but plans changed and I ended up not planting them. They have been sitting in my computer drawer in a pill container ever since, haha. And it looks like they we're a limited run, so I feel a bit lucky :P
Shout-out to krizznap's great Pommelo grow! Anyways, I will update this thread with pictures at least once a week. Onto my current vegatation setup: Four, 23w (100w) CFL's rated at 1600 Lumens each. Two, 13w (60w) CFL's rated at 900 Lumens each. Totaling 8200 Lumens combined. 6500k spectrum. I'm on a 19/5 cycle currently for veg. Using a 24-hour programmable powerstrip, I have 2 lights turn on/off 10 minutes after the other to give a bit more simulated sunrise/sunset for the plants. My soil is 2/3 Cactus soil, and 1/3 basic soil, seems to be working quite well. No time release nutes. 18/24/16 powder with micro-nutrients for adding to water. I'm only planting 3 for now, taking a gamble that at least one will be female. Any suggestions/comments are welcome ![]() Day 1: Placed 3 seeds in a few layers of damp paper towel. Day 2: 2 of the seeds have cracked and sprouted a bit. Third hasn't changed. So I wrapped them back up and gave the uncracked one a few hard flicks with my finger. Day 3: The uncracked one seems to have cracked and sprouted now. Going to plant them in the soil now. Planted each in their own 0.85 Gal pot. I hope to be able to keep them in there until I can tell sex, then move the females to bigger pots. Day 4: 1 of them is just about coming out of the soil, but they must have been buried too deep, and thus the head was stuck in the soil preventing it from sprouting up properly. I scraped most of the soil off the top of them to make it easier on them. Lesson learned. Day 5: The seedling that was almost coming out yesterday is standing very tall and strong today. And the other 2 are poking their heads out of the soil also. ![]() The Fighter: ![]() Day 6: Things are looking great now. All three have started to grow well, especially the strong one that poked out first. Also added my 2 extra 900 lumen CFL's today now that I have two Y-splitters so all 4 of my 1600 lumen bulbs can hang. ![]() The fighter is going strong! ![]() Day 8: Other 2 seem to be catching up. ![]() Click to Enlarge ![]() Click to Enlarge Day 9/10: Ran into a problem. The first set of leaves started to sort of get gimped over time. And became almost paper thin. Picture of the worst bottom leaf taken day 13, since I don't have pics from days 9-12. ![]() Click to Enlarge The plants also seemed to stop growing upward, and at the time I did not know why. Day 11: Leaves are still the same, and the plant doesn't seem to be growing anywhere near as fast as it was before. So I did some research on related stories, and the only thing I could find was that it's a result of over-watering or under-watering. But this didn't help me because I watered them very little and the soil has stayed fairly moist, but not too moist. (This soil seems to be great with drainage, while still holding onto the right amount of water.) Day 12, Morning: So after much thinking, I thought perhaps it was because my lights we're too close to the plants. This was just a blind guess because I thought a plant would keep growing till it hit the light and burnt it's leaves, but these didn't do that. They stopped growing upwards at about 2 inches from the CFL's. Staying at that height for the past few days. So I raised the lights about 6 inches. Then when I got home later that day they we're already getting back to their healthy self and growing fast! Day 13: They're looking quite fine. While the first set of leaves that had become gimped have not fixed themselves right up, they have become more plump and vibrant. And many more leaves have grown out in size, healthy as can be. ![]() Click to Enlarge Interesting way one of the leaves on this plant is growing haha ![]() Click to Enlarge ![]() Click to Enlarge ![]() Click to Enlarge ![]() Click to Enlarge Day 14: They're doing great now with the lights higher ![]() ![]() Click to Enlarge The fighter. Hope this one turns out to be female, it's a real fast grower compared to the others. ![]() Click to Enlarge Day 21: ![]() Click to Enlarge Day 23: ![]() Click to Enlarge ![]() Click to Enlarge Day 26: ![]() Click to Enlarge ![]() Click to Enlarge So I think having the 2 lights standing near both sides of the plants is stunting their upward growth. Perhaps confusing the plants having 3 different light source directions. So I think I'll remove those 2 lights until I can get another hanging socket and y-splitter. |

Day 28:
Growing upward a lot quicker after moving the 2 side lights further away. Will hang them in a few days hopefully. They are also giving off their smell very strongly now throughout the room. ![]() Click to Enlarge ![]() Click to Enlarge And some high-res closeups ![]() Click to Enlarge ![]() Click to Enlarge ![]() Click to Enlarge
