help my seedling is dying on me

ok so i have a 8 inch ASH seedling that i topped the otherday....now its dying on me. The problem seems to be the stem. From the point where the 1st leaves were the stem is nice fat and healthy... But below the 1st leaves the stem is half the thickness. All my leaves turned crispy and crumpled on but the new growths between stems are still nice.

any help would be great before she dies totally :(

Thanks

Does the "half the thickness" area appear to be shrivled and brown on the stem?

ok few ideas from chat

graft the top back to the bottom after cutting the bad bit off......not the best due to fat clumsy fingers

Clone it at the node and hope it takes

paint the thin part and the node with clonex and repot burying the node.

i'm really not sure what to do any advise? really dont want to lose it :(

If that were mine, I'd re-pot and plant it deeper as it appears to have root growth above the thinning section. Planted deeper it would root out above the thin section and all will be fine.

Not directly related to your problem but I'd also get an opaque container and get that thing into some coco or good potting soil.

I don't think I'd try grafting it if it is one you really want to keep.
Not sure the Clonex would help, but I cant see how it could hurt
other then maybe slowing the growth rate, which is probably
going to be slowed anyway.

Duckmang has a good suggestion. It is what I would do.
Like I said, I don't see how the Clonex would hurt anything.

Also what billybob911 suggested, proper flowthru, drainage, in the new pot.

Don't give up hope, if it's still green, it can bounce back. Just go easy on the watering, and get yourself some SuperThrive and Cal-mag. Add both, at the lowest dose, along with a very weak grow nute. Feed only once every 5 days, and if the soil is still moist when you got to feed again, use less (volume). If you keep the ground saturated, the plant will be slower to root. Soil temp is also important, some worm castings topdressed around the plant help, and are not as obvious as black plastic mulch fabric.
