Unhappy Just went to pop my Double Dutch seeds and...

I bought some Double Dutch a few years back and had to shut down my grow before I had a chance to pop them. I stored them in a cool dry place with all of my other seeds and when I went to germinate them tonight... they all looked whiteish and were hollow feeling. Almost like a premature seed looks. I'm sure they were good when i ordered them, they just must not keep very long, all my other seeds are fine.

I'm so bummed. I spend $85 on these and was REALLY REALLY looking forward to double dutch being the staple in my new garden. I wonder if this has anything to do with their seeds being shipped in paper holders instead of plastic ziplocks like everyone ships in?

Oh well, live and learn i guess.

sorry to hear the bad news. you should always check your seeds as soon as you get them. and if they're immature seeds like yours sound to be you can contact who ever you got them from and see what can be done. i think as its been a few years you'll be out of luck now mate. have you tried germing them, i've had small pale seeds in the past that germed just fine. good luck with them.

Yeah, I should have checked them. I gave one the squeeze test and it crushed. I'm trying to germinate the other ones for the hell of it.

Unless the seeds were in the key chain, they were probably older seeds. I'm having issues germinating older seeds myself.

I got 1 fem. double dutch seed from an english seed supplier who splits the packs, along with 5 other single seeds. The double dutch was the only 1 that wouldn't germ, and I too was gutted. I tried to get them to send me another and was met with the response 'we don't want to know, you shouldn't be germinating them in the uk'!!! I didn't tell them I germed them in the uk, they just assumeds it so they could avoid sending a replacement/refund. Pick'n'mix seeds suck arse! The fact that a fresh seed wouldn't germ along side all the others that did slightly puts me off trying them again as they were quite pricey!

biteme is on a distinguished road
in the last several weeks i have had several posts deleted that detail the shitty germ rates i have had on beans bought not that long ago and still in breeder packs that refuse to pop. it is obvious to me that the powers that be are hip to the lousy germ rates and part of the coverup, thus the reason to delete posts. and imho, this prob is not due to the breeders but rather, piss poor handling by the distributors and vendors. check them out. the lousy manner in which they care for this live gear just about guarantees it will be dead in 15 months or so. the only fault i find with breeders is not getting ahead of this better. peace-biteme

Same with me...5 for 5...very fast to sprout, and mine have all veged nicely.....I LST them so the bottom branches can grow up, and fill in like a bush....I believe I read that this strain responds best to LST'ing versus topping.....Not alot of info on this strain, but its a nice one...Ill know more in a month or so....Just popped my last 3 beans a week ago.....So far all 5 plants look the same, but 3 are very young still, so we'll see....I might even run a couple outdoors this year.....Sounds like they will yield like crazy outdoors too.......have too. I know Indoors they are beast.....
