pH of growing medium
Here's something I never really got right...
For this example we'll use coco since that's what I'm using...Let's also say that pH strips are the only testing method available. From what I understand the ideal range for coco is around 5.5-6.0. If you watered with a solution of 6.0, and your runoff was 5.5, would that mean that your coco is actually @ 5.0? Or another example, solution @ 6.5, runoff @ 6.0, does that make your coco @ 5.5? Basically what I'm asking is is the pH of the runoff approximately in between the actual growing medium pH and the solution pH? |

yes you would need to measure the ph of water before and than after and i believe this will show how much you soil ph is affecting your runoff. Hope this helps

If you're growing in coco, don't worry about runoff. Their water/nutes should be between 5.5 and 6.2 PH. I prefer 5.8-6.0... What goes in matters, what comes out doesn't. (With coco.)
Soil is different. Also, PH isn't a linear scale, but a logarithmic one. |
