Here's something I never really got right...

For this example we'll use coco since that's what I'm using...Let's also say that pH strips are the only testing method available.

From what I understand the ideal range for coco is around 5.5-6.0. If you watered with a solution of 6.0, and your runoff was 5.5, would that mean that your coco is actually @ 5.0? Or another example, solution @ 6.5, runoff @ 6.0, does that make your coco @ 5.5? Basically what I'm asking is is the pH of the runoff approximately in between the actual growing medium pH and the solution pH?

yes you would need to measure the ph of water before and than after and i believe this will show how much you soil ph is affecting your runoff. Hope this helps

If you're growing in coco, don't worry about runoff. Their water/nutes should be between 5.5 and 6.2 PH. I prefer 5.8-6.0... What goes in matters, what comes out doesn't. (With coco.)

Soil is different.

Also, PH isn't a linear scale, but a logarithmic one.
