Hi All,

One thing I missed last year, amongst all the fun, was a proper record of all I had smoked, the best of that I handed in on my scoring form. Most of us were recalling certain smokes from memory in the conversations we had afterwards, fun though it was, I wish I had a better record of it all.

Speaking to several people who were there as Judges, the idea came up of making up something extra, a format we can keep our own proper notes of all the entries and make more sense of it all when we find out what each one was. You can all just use a blank piece of paper, but it might work better for sharing and comparing if we did it in a set format, like the Smoke Reports ?

In what way Hazyfontazy ? I thought it was pretty good and was impressed at how seriously everybody was taking it all, but I am always interested in other peoples opinions.

A closer eye to NO JUDGE packs for people with entry's should be a start.

I did not realise this was a problem, heard a vague mumbling about something along these lines, nothing more.

I did both, but marked my entry honestly and as it turned out, with slightly below average marks too. If OP adds up the scoring on a piece of paper it is tricky, but if he uses a spreadsheet or database to add up the scores it would not be hard to automatically give average marks to Judge's own entries.

I took a lot of trouble not to identify my entry to anybody including having to lie through my teeth to several people who were sitting there marking it beside me. Everybody else I spoke to was taking the whole thing very seriously and I am sure all would want it all to be as fair and straight as possible.

Dont mean anyone specific.

And have to say fairly that a friend of mine was also a judge last year, so i have seen all the sample's. And totaly feel you when you say you needed to lie, (which is terible)

And totaly understand people want to see what's up against them in the run.

I am even thinking of not entering this year and do the judge thing myself.

Thanks for the reply, I was specifically assured there was no problem at all with doing both. All I was asked was to make sure I appraised all honestly, which I did. TBH I undermarked my own bud just to be sure... Sitting with people talking about it is funny, and hard, someone took 45 minutes deciding if it was a 7 or an 8 right in front of me Lying can be really hard !

It would be a shame if you could not do both, I enjoyed both sides of the competition very much. Given the serious way all the people I met took the whole thing I find it hard to get my head around people messing about, it would be a bit like cheating at Patience, the solo card game.
