LED stealth cabinet help

I was wanting to make a stealth cabinet.

I want to just buy a cabinet at home depot or wal mart.. something. I want it to look like a piece of furniture.

something like this https://cgi.ebay.com/HYDROPONICS-GROW...#ht_4138wt_907

or like this https://cgi.ebay.com/6FT-GROW-BOX-400...#ht_2010wt_907

i also like the design that mean bean had.

but i dont want all that stuff in it. just that cabinet? do you know where I can buy a cabinet like that?

it would fit a 126 perfectly. I would prefer to find one that I can fit a 345 in it but i havn't seen one of those anywhere yet.

I want to be able to fit 1 mother and tray/dome and use a t5 for that section.

even better, I would like extra space to stuff a 20qt container for my mushrooms. haha pipe dreams. maybe right at the intake so it would add a little extra co2?

that would be such a bad ass stealth cabinet.

and i would most likely be using dirt and scrog style growing with few plants. i am thinking of just trying out hydro so I can pack it full of plants to get the best yield. there is no laws in my state on plant numbers.. only grams.

it just has to look like a real piece of furniture and it has to have a lock.

also how do they seal these things up and make them light proof?

and i would like to filter the smell of course too. so what can fan and filter would be proper? it seems as if the can fan/filter 9000 combo would be a bit to much?

I had a tough time finding a cabinet that was deep enough. Also it was a bit louder than I woulda liked, think "passive air" system so you don't need venting fans. Also get one made of real wood not 3/8 partical board. If that partical board gets a little wet it swells like a sponge, junk.....One last note, they never come with adequete backing so plan on getting a real pice aof wood for the back.

Also using soil elimiates pump noise, you should be wisper quiet! Anything else just let me know, I am always into building cabs, wait tell you see my new one. Just about done lol!!

describe this idea of passive air? it sounds great with an led. but what about odor elimination?

I will build one if i have to but i should be able to find something out there that I could start with.

Well you want to get a cabinet that has little legs like a couch. then drill door knob hole size holes in the bottom where your pots wont be sitting. then on the top of the cab put the same amount of holes " the cabinet top must be higher than eye level so you cant see them". on the inside you will need some small carbon filters to cover the upper holes.

Now the little heat that the led generates will casue the air to rise, the air will permiate nicely through the carbon filters. The system should be pulling in the cooler air from the bottom.

Need to look up some DIY carbon filters, it's all about DIY when making a stealthy cab.

I don't think passive ventilation would work at all. I have a 126w unit in a stealth cab but I still need a 120mm pc fan to exhaust.

Also Thizz, how big is the area your 126W is in? Your answer will provide good data for others trying to build an enclosed space for their LED

LEDGirl, when I start my grow with my 126w (probably start germinating the seed tomorrow), I will provide detailed temperature and dimensional data for my enclosed cab. It has no ventilation beyond the cracks in the doors

Sounds great Zombo, can't wait to see how your current 63W grow finishes up! Those are some nice looking buds you got!

Sorry I haven't responded to this in a very timely fashion. My growbox is approx. 35"x20"x40" and the temp in there usually hovers around 10 degrees above ambient, which is amazing considering that my ventilation system is extremely weak. I use two 120mm pc fans that are pulling through 2" of carbon, so a very small amount of air exchange is going on. I definitely wouldn't be able to keep temps down with these fans if I were using HPS or even CFLs probably.

On second thought, a passive system could definitely work in a larger cab. But it would work much better if the fans in the LED units exhausted out the top instead of the side. LEDGirl, is there a specific reason why the lights exhaust like that? It's the only complaint I have so far. I think my cab would vent much better if the hot air was directed upwards instead of bounced against the walls.

Best of luck to my fellow LED pioneers!
