Rip's OBBT Garden

Hey,

I've been using this ICMag to learn how to grow. I bought 10 clones (4 strains) 2/14/09. Boug ht some seeds 3/15/09.

I picked up a large crate off the backdock at work, it had been used to ship a server. I did 2 runs in the crate like this...

Some buds from the crate

I use 5gal OBBT's, if your not familiar, the bot 5" of the bucket is a reservoir full of Hydroton with airstones in bottom. Then there's about 7" of organic soiless mix, preloaded with nutes (been going lighter on the preload lately).

Latest work has been transitioning from backyard organics, you know, got my own wormbin, and make alot of ACTea's. Earth Juice is what I'm dialing in to be the main line of nutes. Using my own blends I feel too willynilly, and in the dark, as far as what's really working.

I've recently built a growroom in my garage

By the way, I love this little guy, he's in the LA Times everyday. I'll often lift images that work for me. I know it sounds weird, but somehow his life and mine run parallel.

Fired up a 2nd 1kw HPS about a week ago, cooling the room via ventilation right now. Just got an A/C delivered this am. 24k btu minisplit. Self install, going to do an electrical subpanel for the garden, and a separate circuit for the A/C.

I plan on asking some questions re: electrical advice, and nutrient issues. This site has been a lifesaver for me, I will share sometime how true that statement is.

Thanks to everyone who share's their knowledge and experience on this site:

Jmansweed nute study
Phillthy electrial
Hoosierdaddy window a/c in a box
Spastic Gramps
DrunkenMessiah
Jaykush
Microbeman
Lolagal
3LB
KrunchBubble
Tactical Farmer
Stitch

I have a crappy memory, I should be listing about 50 peeps here.

I plan on keeping this thread updated, so be sure to follow along.

I going to take some new pics right now

Much Respect,

I'm gonna keep adding stuff on here, it will probably read all disjointed, but that's the way I roll.

Plants in flower now:

5 x Master Bubba Kush.....due to popular demand
2 x Swiss Bliss.....Prawn Connery was an early hero
4 x Jack Herer

Other strains on deck, or in hiatus:

UK Cheese
Super Silver Haze
White Russian
Purple Kush
Dabney Blueberry

I came very close to losing the Cheese and Haze through marginal cloning success. I was able to take a flowering cut off the outdoor Cheese when I relized earlier cuts weren't rooting, that was late June. I babied that little sprout through a long reveg/rooting phase, now she's a mom throwin' off cuts as needed.

Master Bubba

Jack Herer

Peace Out,

Rip, What a crazy cool room? Could you share a bit more about that? Like the size if you have a minute at some point. I love efficient systems like that.

Is that a carbon filter top right?

You have two exhaust fans going? Love the fan underneath.

So do you pull the front plants out altogether to access the rear-most plants, or is that other wall moveable also.

Sorry for the questions. 2k watts for those I bet will work great.

Major props.!!!

UpDate with Pic's

Hey Rrog thanks,

The new grow room is 12' x 11' x 9.5' high. This is the view from the door.

Foreground rt. is the Tea Station, in the door to the left is the VegCab.

Bot. rt. is my new E-Z Cloner knockoff. Master Bubba Kush and UK Cheese all rooting....not 1 of the 4 Super Silver Haze have yet! SSH is by far the slowest rooter I have, regardless of method, and I been tryin' a few.

The pic below shows most of this group @ 15 days flower, larger buds bot rt are Swiss Bliss at 20 days.

Notice the tallest plants in the circle, they are Jack Herer's, those 2 Kush between the Jacks are in the following pics. I'm experimenting with the degree of S/crop, Trellis, Training and Support. It just hit me recently, why am I bothering to trellis the Kush? This plant has not been topped, but I pulled a couple of back branches forward. Look at her backside

Master Bubba Kush on a trellis...aaaaand turn around please

This girl has had some of the tops folded over, Trying for even light exposure.

Found a random Jack Herer small on my work bench, I played around with the cam and a light.

I'll probably post up later tonight, share some plans.

Respect,

or, is that your veg cab now?

and, while I'm doing the 20 questions routine (lol)

it also occurred to me that I'm using an aquarium pump - maybe it doesn't make enough bubbles

I really think a good amount of air is a good thing. I first thought I went overboard but not now.

I am IN LOVE with RVWs room. Wow!

Fuck, had a long post goin' and my laptop just went white screen on me. Scared me, came back OK.

I'm not a fast keyboarder so now wwe go to the condensed version.

The Crate is now my Veg area, it's light proof and in the growroom, so I just make sure the doors are closed before flower lights go out. Running a 400w MH in there.

Plans are to partition off a small corner into a Vegroom, I left a doorway framed behind the drywall to accomodate. As this op. expands I'm learning what ratio of space is needed to maximize output of flowers.

In the process of installing a 60a subpanel for the growroom. I also need a 25a dedicated circuit for the 25k btu mini-split A/C that was just delivered!

I have some thoughts on the air supply to OBBT's, will post up later.

Rrog thanks for the kind words, I enjoy growing along side you, you bring alot to the mix. I'm digging this horticulture stuff so much, I can't fathom taking a break. How long will you hold off before firing back up?

Gotta get back to the 'lectric shit,

Later,
