Remember when televisions had tubes, you could check the tubes at most any grocery store. The channel changer was the knob on the front, I was the remote, hey go change the channel for me your closer.

Did any one mention phone party lines? Where you had to wait for your long winded neighbor to get off the phone. I also remember back when my boss didn't know where I was every second of the day and couldn't call me on a cell phone. [a few more years to go for retirement for me.]

Once more on the TVs, they were mono and black and white. When Nissan was Datsun and Chrysler was introducing some car made by Mitsubishi. And my dad saying how he didn't want to buy another set of tools that were metric. My dad and grandpa both had early Datsun but only as spare vehicles. Anyone remember the "3 on the tree" shifters or when you could look under the hood and see the ground? or when cars had full size spare tires and a real trunk?

Datsun was called Datsun because when they introduced the car to the States the name Nissan was very unpopular with the American Public due to the war. At least that was the way I heard it. If you remember right, most any Datsuns engine clearly had Nissan marked on it, usually stamped right on the rocker cover.
