i am skeptical too until i see the trans-genic plant in a science journal......but whose to say you are not smoking bud that has had a mutagen like colchicine applied to it....or genetically modified?......-gp

Believe me, you would prolly know within a matter of a few minutes if you smoked a bud that had colchicine applied to it. That stuff is like slow cyanide.

I think we could see GM herb within the next ten years. Imagine your favorite plant but with double the THC, no other characteristics changed through breeding. It would be awesome. As soon as they completely map the relevant genes to all cannabinoid synthesis then it will be entirely possible.
As a scientist, all the fuss about GM amazes me. It is the future of our food plants and possibly even herb. |

The first thing the scientists did was give themselves a huge set of boobs. You can find most of them hanging out at home, at least the ones that arent stripping downtown.

It would be interesting to do some quantative PCR on flower samples from elite clones to look at genes (involved in the biosythesis of THC and related compounds). May find a certain genes expressing more or less or not at all in elite clones. THerefore, it is pausible to think that these elites are plants with possible natural mutations resulting increased/decreased biosynthetic pathway enzyme activity or more substrate is made available for the THC biosythn pathway. These plants had favorable mutations and were "selected" for their yummy potent traits. So who wants to "donate" some flower samples for science.
![]() NoS P.S. To complete my though with the thread. So finding a natural mutant or producing one in the lab would be smoked the same in my bong.
