mr. thejointedone, you surely realize you are on a world wide forum with this specific subforum allotted to discuss growing gear from dj short? yet you act irritated because no one here has heard of some new oddball hyb created on the left coast, usa and sold at some dispensery in san jose? further, the only common element i see between dj short and whitaker blue is blueberry, correct? aside from whitaker blue, how many hybrids out there have blueberry in the cross?
i think you already know more about this new cross than anyone here but i will take a stab at answering your question and say that due to a longer season and heavier yield, most often a new hyb will be more sativa like. peace-biteme
I was just reading the same post on Whitaker Blue, I figured it was either too old for me to know about or it was a mistake. Never heard of the strain though, but harborside is reputable, atleast from what i hear. I'm interested to know the truth too.
agreed. if my statement was not clear all i meant is that this particular sub-forum is to discuss gear from breeder dj short so i could not understand why someone would expect icmag members to know anything about whitaker blue? the only thing i could see that dj short and whitaker blue might have in common is the strain blueberry. nor did i insinuate this strain may be fake, to the contrary, my statement was i would guess coming from caly it may be more sativa like but i am sure someone spent some time working her. peace-biteme
Ok I dug up a description from my coop that DJ Short visited...
"Developed by DJ Short's son, 'JD', the Whitaker Blues is a true Oregon Heritage cross. The mother of the Whitaker Blues is currently referred to as 'Quimby'; an old-school, West Coast staple cut reminiscent of a classic, early indica lineage -- strong and sleepy in its effect.
Quimby was crossed with DJ Short's personal Blueberry father, making the Whitaker Blues appear approx. 80% indica and 20% sativa in structure. It is a stout plant, short branching, sporting large compact buds loaded with resin-very vigorous and productive indoors with hues of violet and blue at its 55-62 day finish. Finished buds have a pungent/sweet velvety grap and slight vanilla flavor. Effect is strong with slight initial stimulation inspiring increased appetite (munchies) and a sedative after-effect."
Finally got some confirmed females from seeds purchased at Harborside. Excited to share how they turn out, some real nice structure and will get to cloning a few for a test run asap.
Also have some DJ's Blueberry that a pal had a male and female of last year, popped some of her beans in too...confirmed females there and one with very berry stem smell, YAY.
Keep ya'll posted!
