Calibration Solutions

Hello all. Does it matter what brand my calibration/storage

solutions are? The guy at the hydro store said GH solutions will

work with my Hanna pH and EC/TDS meters.

Sirus- to the best of my knowledge they are all the same- brand should not matter one bit.
They all claim these solutions have a shelf life of about a year---- less for a high PH solution like 10. Not sure if these solutions drift after time or not ?

snafu

Brands dont matter that much. What does matter is what your instructions say to calibrate at. with some meters it wont matter, but with others this is very important. so if the instructions say to use 7.01pH calibration dont use 7.0pH or like my hanna primo TDS meter it uses 1382ppm calibration so it would be bad to use 1400ppm or even 1350ppm. basicly take the time and read the instructions more often then not the answer will be there

Thanks for the responses. My Hanna pHep says 7.01 and the GH

is 7.0 I think...oh well back to the hydro shop again.

best to get small bottles of solution... get 2 levels of each one; ph 7 and ph4 for example... u do the dual calibration u'll be set... also store ur meters like they do in the packaging; sensor probe facing down... it'll make ur sensor live longer... my ph pen is 2 years old and the sensor is good as day 1 with no drift in the calibration solutions; dead on

I have to agree to disagree on this. I have a Hanna grow check and have used one now for over three years. I tried the GH solution and it was all messed up....especially when trying to get ppm meter calibrated. I only use Hanna solutions to calibrate my growcheck. And no they will not drift, provided you when using the solution clean the prongs off before dipping into another solution...i.e taking it out of nutes and dry off before dipping into bottle etc...it will last a very long time.

LOL...
Smart move..you don't want to mess around with that growcheck and then have a ph of 9 or something and not know till too late!

Hello everyone. Do I need the 10.01 cal solution, or will the 4.01

& 7.01 suffice? I have the Hanna pHep meter.
