Well, I had a reply written out and just lost it....got logged out prior to posting, which means it was actually too long of a reply if it took me long enough to write that the site timed out on me.

Sometimes I tend to give too much attention to a subject.

So I'll try and consolidate it a bit, although difficult for me due to my passion.

If he actually has a real concern about any similarities in name, seems to me he would have pm'ed me and started a dialogue with me directly. He didn't.....and hasn't. All I see are others attempting to question me about a matter which really isn't their concern.

backwards samename? sounds to me like a contradiction in terms you are attempting to attach....therefore has no basis.

I name my seed lines along a theme. I think we'd all agree that a variety name means nothing in the grand scheme of things, the genetics do. There is no similarity whatsoever with my Merlin's Magic and his variety. Simply because we both used the word Magic and also the word Merlin (coincidentally), and not even in the same word order, is just that.....a coincidence and certainly not done by me with any malice.

I believe that this nitpicking over a variety name has a different agenda.

Merlin's Magic is Acapulco Gold x C99 (orig Bros. Grimm F1). This is quite different from his variety, in both name and genetics used.

If I seem a bit perturbed, that would be because I am a bit fed up by seeing folks with less than 100 posts, and some with only 1 post, coming on here and attempting to give me a black eye because of a similar (not exact) variety name.

I researched my variety names prior to release, through all the 'mainstream' seed companies. Rather than go to every canna forum site, I googled Merlin's Magic across the entire www and found no other seed company use of that exact name, period. I even posed the list to Gypsy, due to the fact I've been away for the past year and not online, to see if Gypsy was aware of any old, or new, varieties with my chosen names. After my research, which I felt was adequate, I settled upon all the names I selected.

Although my Merlin's Magic is in current testing phases and not yet released to the growing public, I do not intend to make any name change, simply because it's backwardly similar to some other name.

Not only was my Merlin's Magic named in keeping with my theme, it was also named so because of the affinity I have with the musical group Merlin's Magic over many years, whose music is often heard during meditation as well as background music for spa/massage/relaxation therapy.

He is welcome to pm me 'himself'. I took his question in the thread referenced above as being answered, followed by his reply, to mean he understood the differences in genetics used, as well as the names not being exact, and with no malice on my part. Since he at no point after that came to me directly in pm, or otherwise, with any concern after his post in the link above, and instead only those with little to nil contribution to the site here (including the 1 post posters I've ignored ) being the only ones bringing this to the forefront then I feel continuing this dialogue here is only leading to furthering some sort of other nefarious agenda of which I will have no part of and is not welcome in my forum.
