Undissolved MaxiGro / MaxiBloom
I always see a bit of sediment when I mix these nutrients up, some solids that don't quite dissolve. I recently moved, and this seems to be more of a problem, but then again I haven't grown in a while and it may just be that the fertilizer is older and more caked.
At any rate, I had the idea of grinding the stuff up in a mortar and pestle. It's a bit of a pain, yes, but it clearly gets more of the stuff into solution. Along the same lines, you could probably do it up in a blender as well, but I'd make sure the blender was a bit more sterile than mine usually is. |

That undissolved stuff isn't fertilizer, it is the binder.
It helps keep the powder from sticking together and it keeps the elements separated. I use a 4 cup container to mix my MaxiBloom in some water before I dump into my res. I let the binder sink to the bottom of the cup and then I pour the nutrients into my res. It doesn't really matter anyway. It won't have any negative effect. |

Sounds reasonable. I've had decent results in the past with a bit of sediment (and I know others have as well), it's just that now I'm getting rocks 1/8" to 1/4" that don't seem to dissolve. Grinding them up gets more of "something" in solution. There is still undissolved precipitate, just considerably less.

try dissolving most of the salts in a little hot water first and then add it to the rest of the water u will be using and air bubble it with a pump. about 10-20 minutes air bubbled is what it took for my water to be pretty much clear with the vast majority of the salts being dissolved. try it out, cheers!

I read that mixing nutes in hot water messes up nutes. So why dissolve in hot water when you can just blend?

Buddha, Sounds like older nutes to me but it could also be your water. I have very soft water, less than 50 ppm's and when I used Maxi it always mixed up well in cold water with a small pump. Hard water can slow down the mixing but not as bad as what you're talking about, 1/4" rocks?! Mortar and pestle?, that shit is funny. Time for a new bag. Good luck...
