Hello BOG I was wondering type of co2 setup you use and when you start giving your plants co2. Thanks for your time and be safe all.

Sour Bubble bx1
Greetings Bog,
I recently started a couple of SB bx1. Only a couple because I wanted to start the rest when I get my SB bx3 and do them side by side, just for a fun kinda comparison, to see what makes the bx 3's worth 30 more dollars a pak. I'm sure the info is somewhere to be found but I'm at a loss, could you review a little about the type of plant bx1 is and what you wanted to change to get to the bx3. On my two starts, on one the main stem is a normal looking whitish pale green, the other is a distinctive reddish/purple from the soil to the leaves, just wondering about the different phenotypes bx1 may show. Life is a gift Woof |

Thanks for the Questions...
Big Mike, you can wait a bit after sexing if you wish but transplanting in flower does add about a week to flowering time often because the plant naturally wishes to root the added space and will grow on more then if not transplanted. I normally recommend transplanting in flowering as soon as the plants are sexed. If sex is known this final transplant is best done in veg actually with enough room left to root on in flowering some as well. I wouldnt transplant past about 3 weeks into flowering unless its a long flowering strain and just going into flower still.
GPB, I have some of their wine in fact and it can be pretty good... ![]() AXLE, I just use a bike tire filler to shoot off co2 cartridges and I only use co2 in flowering because I am in no hurry in veg. I spray off a couple cartridges a day one the day is warmed up and going. Its just partial co2 enrichment and I use no meters but any used helps yields especially in flowering. Cost about a buck a day and its easy. Dont hit the plants with the cold spray however. Smoking Dog, Actually there are some great phenos to be found in sb bx 1 but for most growers the sb3 will be more stable with more plants of the sour pheno type. The sb3 seeds will probably yield better for the average phenotype found as well so the difference while small is worth it for most. Soon there will be no SB2 or SB1 seeds left other thant he ones I kept just in case. A fully cubed SB4 could cost even more. That doesnt mean its better until the proof is in however so we hope you keep us updated sir. Thanks to all and I will let you know soon on the book completion date. Thanks for the update on the good germ rates. My BMR is smoking really smooth and Mrs. BOG really loves it because it doesn't make her cough like sour bubble can. BOG
I hope you love it too... sweetie.

Bog,
Pardon my ignorance but getting a handle on these genetic post scripts is new to me, if you could enlighten me, or send me where I can read up on the basics, ie. I understand the bx(n) is within immediate genetic family and the number has to do with succeeding family crosses? I don't know what IBL or cubed or some of the other terms used such as f(n) are. If you've got the time and could afford a simple explanation, I would consider myself a more informed consumer. Thanks, Woof Last edited by SmokinDog; 10-03-2005 at 11:19 PM.. |

There are different ways of backcrossing to a particular male or female. If a plant is bx'd each sucessive bx tends to move closer to the intended parent. When 4 bx have been done to a particular clone the stability often increases with more phenos of the desired type and each bx can move the genetic pool of new seeds closer to the clone mom used. The truth is that bx'ing alone doesn't insure stability however.
Common sense can figure out how to move in one direction or the other but I am not very scientific and rely on my intuitions to select males and clone mothers. BOG

Feminized seeds
Hi BOG,
Any chance you'll ever put out a feminized seed. Us micro growers don't always have space & time to veg & sex, but I loved my LifeSaver when I grew it last year. Thanks!

Hi Bog, I haven't bothered you with my newbie probs in a while, lol.
I am having a problem cloning BMR. Is this a harder to clone strain? I have cloned a few times using the simple method--rapid rooter plugs, gel, dome. But everytime I try BMR I get stem rot after 3-5 days and then death... One more question, the pheno that has been giving me the biggest prob is a taller, sativaish one...The short stubby(GIANT FAN LEAF) pheno is still alive(no rot) but no roots either. Here is a picture of the mother plants they came from...I need a new harvest badly so I threw them into 12/12 today...they are getting too big. Since these things are getting so big and I need a harvest SOON, should I scrap the whole clone idea and wait until I pop some more seeds? Oops that is 3 questions...Thanks for all your time. --Benito Last edited by BenitoCereno; 10-06-2005 at 03:43 AM.. |
