The batteries last forever and it never needs recalibrating

Solution Color and Ph Testing Fluid

Okay... here's my question regarding liquid ph testing materials. If the liquid you're trying to test has a color of it's own, how can it be compatible with testing fluid that requires you to match the solution's color to find the Ph? Know what I'm talking about?

I've asked at every grow shop I've ever been to, and all they can do is scratch their heads and say "good question". Whats the deal with this.

Thanx, but looking for a little more pinpoint accuracy.
Digital accuracy & reliability. Does anyone use a probe/constant
read type?

Avoid the Bluelab combo meter, my ph meter crapped out at 6mos, improved replacement is better. The EC meter crapped out at 9months, go with a different brand....

I recommend meters with separate probes, rather than pen based meters (and individual meters rather than combos) - but since the one you have is working, why do you want to replace it?

What do you want from your new meter that you are not getting from your current meter?

tombauer~ don't think you should be so quick to dismiss evl's suggestion on the drops... unless you are willing to drop 1k on a lab grade meter, then the drops are going to more accurate for you... any time, any where. peace

solo~ i've never run a murky, thick solution, so can't attest to that. But, for most solutions (even w organic add's), the little vial of 2ml solution becomes pretty darn translucent. Getting your color's adjusted to your eye is the toughest part & only takes a little of playin around with before you nail it. peace.

I've tested some pretty nasty looking water and could easily read the color change. I see what you're saying but I've never heard of anyone having a prob reading the results.

What ph drops lack in pinpoint accuracy it makes up for in reliability and repeatability.
Good luck.

I've been using the same Oakton pH meter for 6 years. I've got the Hanna and Milwaukee, but keep going back to the Oakton.
