LA to Vote on New MMJ Dispensary Ordinance Today

After years of delays, the Los Angeles City Council seems set to vote on a new medical marijuana ordinance that will cap the number of clinics at 70. The council will have two draft ordinances to vote on, the main difference is the distance from schools, etc.

It's not clear how many dispensaries would have to shutdown immediately once the ordinance is passed. About 137 dispensaries would qualify to operate under the new law because they existed before the moratorium on new dispensaries was put into effect.

Either draft ordinance, if passed, will change the entire medical marijuana landscape in LA.

As long as they don't try to outlaw the dispensaries altogether, it is a major victory, imo.

Give me an inch and I'll take a friggin' lightyear. They deserve it.

Grow as big as possible... they can't stop us all.

This bill was passed, yet the 11-3 vote wasn't enough to put it into law on the first vote, as it must be unanimous to pass on the first vote. Another vote is scheduled for next week.

The final deal set the setbacks for dispensaries at 1000 ft. They still haven't decided what the fees will be to operate a dispensary. It's estimated that 150 dispensaries will remain open, and the hundreds of others will close or sue the city over this issue.

Some bad stuff in there....

Quote:
15. No qualified patient, person with an identification card, or primary
caregiver may be a member, at the same time, of more than one collective
located within the City, except that in the event of a medical emergency, a
qualified patient, person with an identification card, or primary caregiver may
obtain medical marijuana sufficient to meet that medical emergency from another
collective located within the City.
This next one is for LAPD to have access to your info.

Quote:
SEC. 45.19.6.4. MAINTENANCE OF RECORDS.
A medical marijuana collective shall maintain records at the location accurately
and truthfully documenting: (1) the full name, address, and telephone number(s) of the
owner, landlord and/or lessee of the location; (2) the full name, address, and telephone
number(s) of all members who are engaged in the management of the collective and
the exact nature of each member's participation in the management of the collective; (3)
the full name, address, and telephone number(s) of all patient members to whom the
collective provides medical marijuana,a copy of a government-issued identification card
for all patient members, and a copy of every attending physician's or doctor's
recommendation or patient identification card;
(4) the full name, address, and telephone
number(s) of all primary caregiver members to whom the collective provides medical
marijuana and a copy of every written designation(s) by the primary caregiver's qualified
patient(s) or the primary caregiver's identification card; (5) written documentation of all
circumstances under which the collective provided medical marijuana to a non-member,
including but not limited to the recipient's full name, address, and telephone number,
This one I like
Quote:
B. Testing of Medical Marijuana. The collective shall use an independent and
certified laboratory to analyze a representative sample of dried medical marijuana and a
representative sample of edible marijuana for pesticides and any other regulated
contaminants pursuant to established local, state, or federal regulatory or statutory
standards at levels of sensitivity established for the food and drug supply before
providing the medical marijuana to its members. Any medical marijuana from which the
representative sample analysis tested positive for a pesticide or other contaminant at a
level which exceeds the local, state, or federal regulatory or statutory standard for the
food and drug supply shall not be provided to members and shall be destroyed
forthwith. Any medical marijuana provided to members shall be properly labeled in strict
compliance with state and local laws.

Damn! Just another way for Big Brother to keep track of ppl's personal, private info. There is NO REASON for LAPD to know all this. Do we keep these kinds of records on everyone who buys a bottle of wine, a six pack, a pack of cigs, or a bottle of aspirin? When will this invasion of people's privacy end?

I'm very surprised they want all this info about patients & management, but NOTHING at all about those who PROVIDE the cannabis to the dispensary itself....

LAPD, you missed your chance, nah, nah! NOT!

Of course it's there... They want to know everything about ALL members, and that would include those members who are providing cannabis to the dispensary. Gotta be a member to grow, right? So now the LADP will have the name & address of every grower providing cannabis or edibles to a dispensary.

Guess that makes their job of busting grows a LOT easier. You better have members for every plant you grow, or else the LAPD won't be pleased when they come to your door!!!!

And of course you can only grow for one dispensary, cause you can only belong to one now.

Want your PRIVACY? Then LEGALIZE IT!

Its crazy...

Quote:
amount of medical marijuana received, and medical emergency justification; (6) all
receipts of the collective, including but not limited to all contributions, reimbursements,
and reasonable compensation, whether in cash or in kind, and all expenditures incurred
by the collective for the cultivation of medical marijuana; (7) an inventory record
documenting the dates, amounts, and content testing results of all marijuana cultivated
by the collective, including the amounts of marijuana stored at the location at any given
time; (8) a log documenting each transfer of marijuana reflecting the amount
transferred, the date transferred, and the full name of the member to whom it was
transferred;
so when they get a list, they will know how much you buy, then they can then profile people by how much they spend.
