Return Policy & Restocking Fee

So I'd like to give one of these lights a try.

They are expensive, but, I do not mind paying extra for new and awesome things. Early adopters always pay more to have the cutting edge.

What does bother me though is the 25% restocking fee on an expensive item.

On the $1,200 318w unit, I would basically be paying $300 plus shipping both ways if I decided I didn't want to keep it.

Am I missing something here? That seems like a huge fee to return a light or any other product, especially one that will only be accepted back in "as new" condition.

Well, thats kinda the point, to keep people from returning a now used product because they decided they just dont want it once they get it, now the manufacture will have to re-sell it. You know what you are going to get before it arrives so there shouldnt be any reason to return it.

Exactly. It is also to stop impulse buyers from canceling their orders a day or two after they place it. Either way though, if a customer does return a product to us, we are unable to sell it as new. We sell 126W "demo" units (or those used for only a few months) for $375 shipped. That's $100 less than a new unit, and $100 is the exact price of the re-stocking fee on a 126W.

While it's fine for you to disagree with our policies, they will not be changing. Therefore if you decide to become a customer, please understand our policies before purchasing. Coming on to my forum to voice your disapproval with our company policies though, is not something I'd recommend doing again. If you don't like them, simply find somewhere else to buy your lights from.
Heh - I understand why re-stocking fees exist.

And I didn't ask anybody to change their policy - simply to explain why the restocking fee it is a good bit higher than usual for electronics.

Funny thing is, I don't even disapprove. I can come up with a few logical reasons you would have to charge a 25% restocking fee. Thought I would simply ask rather than wonder though, so it wouldn't be sitting in the back of my mind, or other potential customer's.
