Soma, I found your NYCD Femenized seeds to have 50% males!!
This does not make me happy as not only have I paid more for supposedly female seeds, I have spent more money than the seeds cost on top shelf soil, supplies, etc. On top of the cost, I tied up my flower room for 2 weeks just to throw out the entire crop. I own a business and work long hours. When I have time to spend on my garden I want that time to count... needless to say I'm not very happy...
So what is the deal with these femenized seeds???? Last edited by GroNut; 09-10-2005 at 12:22 AM.. |

Gee willikers...
thats funny.
Apparently there was a mixup from whoever you ordered from.I would calmly take it up with them. Somas feminized are what they are, as advertised. I would think that if he was a fraud and a sham we would have heard of all this many moons ago. As it is, he is highly respected breeder and has a reputation as to being an honest man. Integrity is not lacking either. Quote:
And "sinse" (yuk-yuk)this is none of my business, I shall butt out now. well in a second... Sure a shame to just throw them all out, what was that all about? Did it seem logical at the time? |

soma is a good man i dont believe in feminised as nature will find a way. hard knock for a first timer. did you take time with them. it takes male flowers a while to ripen my first crop had a plant that just put a few male flowers at the node or stembase. they were hard to identify. dont give up. we all have problems i like soma but i wonder about feminzed even though they make people rich

Well babbit, if you have as much experience with Soma seeds as you say, you would know how the seeds are packaged... have you ever bought any seeds from Soma?? You make it sound like the retailer has loose, unpackaged seeds sitting around.
My seeds came in the Soma package with the little plastic saucer very much intact with the femenized label.. "100% femenized, no males, no hermis". They came from Dr Chronic which I've bought other seeds from including femenized seeds from Dutch Passion with no problems. The notion that Dr Chronic has mixed up or switched seeds to make an extra $50 or so is funny I expected that some Soma supporters would not like to beleive my claim and that's understandable but you inserted the words "fraud" and "sham" into this by yourself... very poor. I think there is a more likely reason such as a mix up during packaging at Soma's place or the femenized breeding technique is not up to par there. I also think that someone with as many supporters and customers as Soma has would take more care in releasing a product that is not what it claims to be. The $50 or $100 difference that I paid for the seeds is not as big a deal as the time I spent and how I set up my grow believing that I would end up with females and maybe a hermi. Had I known there would be so many males obviously this would change how I went about my grow. Me impatient?? Well, sure. Why do you think I bought female seeds... so I didn't have to take the time to sex them... Any besides, my patients has nothing to do with this...And this leads me to your next question: Why did I throw them out? Well, to run the flowering room for 10 weeks for 3 small plants doesn't make much sense to me. Yes, it seemed logical to toss them at the time and it still does now. If I was going to grow 3 plants only they would have been vegged much longer. Maybe you should have taken the time to think about it before responding like you did, being a bit of an ass. I can't say I'm surprised though, I know there are some out there with a blurred perception like yours who are quick to make funny claims while dishing out insults.

I can see why you may be a little angry. Im impatient myself and know what it feels like to have a setback of a few weeks when you wanted to harvest yesturday. Im sure Soma wil try to find out what the prob was with your seeds.

Contact Dr Chronic, explain the situation to him and I'm sure Dr and Soma will insist on more than making up for this set back..
and I cant for the life of me understand why (if in soil pots??)you would want to throw out 3 female NYCD plants!...they are a strain on the sativa-ish side so they would stretch and get bigger if you keep them happy..they might not fill your grow room, but it would be worthwhile in any case, I would kept them in there and tried to maximise them and started the other NYCD seeds you mentioned 50% turned male, you had 3 girls, so you grow out only 6 seeds total? I'd talk to Dr first and then return the remaining seeds and packet to the seller. I hope it all works out satisfactorarily for you in the end? Keep us informed! Chamba,
I germed all 20 seeds that I bought, 19 popped and I kept the best 4 in large buckets vegging to use as mothers for my aero rig. of the 15 plants remainig, I chose 8 to flower and gave away the least desireable remaining 7 to a friend. Of the best 4 that are still vegging, 2 clearly show female and 1 looks to be devoloping as male and one doesn't show. Of the 8 that have been in flower for almost 2 weeks, 5 show balls and 3 are clearly female. I'll have to get with my buddy to let him know to look out. I won't flower 3 plants for 10 weeks. I'll scrap this and work on the next one. You know what... I sent an email to Doc but not to complain or to ask for my money back, just to let him know of my experiece and ask if there has been anyone else. If he decides to refund me that's great but it doesn't fix the fact that premium priced seeds are being sold on he market that are clearly not what they claim. That part bums me out as much or more than my wasted time. GroNut Last edited by GroNut; 09-10-2005 at 07:07 AM.. |
