a couple of crows were diving on this bird. I thought it was a hawk .red tail, gray ,my buddy says coopers hawk.
the tail folded up like it is ,has me wondering if its a falcon or something else

or maybe its just the posture cause the crows are attacking??

great pic, no answer except the wings and markings look
particularly hawk like, brb....... OK, have a peek @ these pics:

the wing shape suggests soaring hawks, the markings and
very straight edge on your hawk looks like a Swainson's Hawk.
My guess is that the tail tuck is a defensive move of sorts.......

good call stoner4life but with out knowing the location it is hard to identify Id agree with you but i don't see any zoneing on the tail and the size may be a bit off as swainson's hawks are the size of a raven not a crow, Id say its a coopers
