The true keeper from my first run of GT was in fact a hybrid type from a female pack of the most recent GT release. That plant leaned thai in terpene profile & effect but much more managable growth than the extreme thai expressions. This plant didn't clone well for whatever reason & we were not able to keep a mother. Close behind was our most thai expression, this plant was from your f1 re-release I previously mentioned. It is not so easy to grow and has good effect, but terpene could be better. But that might be bad growing by me, she needs more runs. In the end I figured I'd rather have a very thai GT f1 if I couldn't have that other plant.

I have 30+ ace gt beans from current release (both fem & regs), the remainder of the f1 pack, and a few hundred seeds from the f1 #3 and that other GT that died. No worries from my part, I will find Thai leaning GT expressions with good indoor growth characteristics. I did not have time For another GT grow due to other considerations and scheduling. I plan to search through more GT beans soon.

For me I hope to find Thai phenotypes with more manageable growth characteristics. Thai plants have added some of the most desirable terpenes & effects to modern cannabis in my humble opinion, it's just so hard to grow indoors. I know some folks like the incredible strength of Malawi, I just like malawi for its ability to take long flower sativa and not take too much away from canabanoid profile while adding positive characteristics to growth patterns. Malawi turns long flower sativas into good indoor plants while still good positive sativa high, in my experience anyways. You & Charlie know Malawi so much better, do you agree or think otherwise?

Next request: Honduras (Columbian type) x Malawi pls lol. Or double thai remake (or triple, new Chang mai lol?)

All the best Dubi, your passion in your work shows in your commitment to discuss topics with your consumers.

Hi NCali,

That's why i prefer current Golden Tiger releases, they have stronger desirable thai influence, the terpene profile is much better than the original F1 release, yet still keeps the good indoor adaptability, huge yields, extreme potency and the type of effects i seek in the breeding of Golden Tiger.

Overall, Golden Tiger clones very easily, especially the thai phenos, along with our pure thais and pure hazes, they are the easiest parental plants to clone from our genetic library.

The breeding potential of Malawi is amazing and has been widely explored after so many years producing Malawi hybrids .... Malawi always adds lots of vigor, yield, very high resin production and very strong potency to its hybrids, just need to be careful when doing Malawi outcrosses, to make sure they have an improved terpene profile.

We have produced Malawi hybrids that really keep the most extreme Malawi potency and effects like Malawi x Panama, Zamaldelica fem or Golden Tiger. We also have produced very successful and strong Malawi sativa/indica hybrids like Malawi x PCK which really has an outstanding terpene profile and a very deep, strong and long lasting effect for a PCK hybrid. And finally we also have produced Malawi x sativa hybrids that have very good potency but without Malawi's heaviness, that's the case of Purple Haze x Malawi, which has a great uplifting, clear and well focused effect.

I have in mind to produce in the future a pure thai release, and a very thai hybrid bred with different thai strains.

I think the best potential of the Honduras sativa regarding effect is the super clean and uplifting qualities of its effect, that's why my main preferences are to cross her with other interesting sativas with similar clean and uplifting qualities like Haze, Tikal, etc .... Honduras also has the potential to produce very high yielding hybrids, and the purple Honduras pheno has very interesting qualities regarding colors and terpenes that must be further explored. But i think this a story for the honduras thread.

Thanks for your kind words, it's always a pleasure to come here to talk with all of you about our beloved plant.

Greetings Dubi,

Your willingness to discuss your work makes you a special among your peers, Dubi. I always appreciate your insight and wisdom, and I'm sure the group of gardeners here at ACE forum do also.

That information regarding the tendencies of Malawi when it is used in crosses is interesting and insightful. Helpful info indeed into understanding where some of GT power comes from, and what important role Thai plays in the cross.Malawi is a Very strong plant and a very useful tool in breeding when used correctly, as we all experience in crosses like golden tiger and zamaldelica. I have the green haze Malawi I plan to use soon, I like the clear side of haze genetics. I know there are stories/legends that makes purple haze popular, but I am less influenced by legends I suppose.

I greatly look forward to your future work in the honduras crosses & Thai poly hybrids. It may be annoying to have to listen to someone tug at your coat tails over the years regarding Thai hybrids, I apologize haha. It is a special grpup of plants in my experience, it can add very interesting things to cannbis taste, effect, etc. Very fun to explore. You have very nice thai genetics, and you do a wonderful job sharing them with the growers community. Thank you to you and your team for this always.

I've been enviously browsing the Ace boards for months, and finally have pics / questions to post about.

From a regular pack of Golden Tigers ordered from Attitude back in May, I've only popped 2 beans so far. The first pheno was a really beautiful, vigorous plant that I was super excited to get into flowering and sample, due to the glowing reviews here...

Unfortunately, that beautiful, vigorous plant showed as male when put into flower!
So, he was moved to reveg for future pollen collection...where "he" proceeded to show about 3/4 female flowers to 1/4 male flowers. At this point, I wasn't exactly sure what would be done with this GT#1, but it sat in the background, doing it's thing. As it turned out, it was working on both revegging and making viable seeds at the same time. That was a kinda cool discovery, and gave up about 75 S1's to play with in the future. Now that it's been revegged, it's time to strip the male branches, and try to flower again.

My question about this pheno is: will it always likely throw hermie flowers, or might it settle into being female in future flowerings? What about the S1's? Will they be mainly hermie prone, or can some solid girls be expected?

Now, on to GT#2... This is the pheno that's actually flowering at the moment, and that I have pics of. It was much slower, smaller, and less vigorous than GT#1, but actually stayed female (as far as I can tell). Now, this plant is in week 9 of flower, though you certainly wouldn't guess that from the pictures! It's had its ups and downs through the cycle, including a week without light, and nutrient swings as high as 2400ppm at one point. It's also been growing vertically around an LED fixture, next to a flaming cookies/sour bubble cross and neither of them really stretched in flower at all.

So, my question is whether anyone can give a guess as to where this pheno lands in the spectrum of Thai vs Malawi? Since she's already in week 9ish, I'm guessing anywhere between another 3 and 7 weeks til finish? It's flower development timing and leaf serrations seem to point to a very Thai leaning pheno, but the flower density seems to blow away the Flaming Bubbles next to it...even with minimal calyx development on the GT#2.

I'd love to hear thoughts from others with GT experience, especially Dubi, if he finds his way in here. Here's some pics!
Hi Medicine, Man,

Sorry for the delay in the reply. I won't pay much attention to seeds coming from a hermie plant, especially if you are growing small number of plants, as they have higher chances to produce offspring with hermie tendencies again.

You must be consistent and careful to provide your plants stable and proper conditions in flowering, especially with sativas with longer flowering times, without exceed with the feeding.

Please, send me a private message and i will replace you the hermie seed with a new Golden Tiger fem seed, i think the fem version will be easier to grow for you.

Best regards!

Hi stellarjay

Glad you found a thai pheno of your taste, your description of the effect is very close to the effects of the Koh Chang Thai used in the breeding of Golden Tiger.

Sorry i didn't understand the last part of your post: perhaps euphoria is hidden in the cobbed version?
