100 watt hps security light
I'm wondering if I could use it horizontally without having to worry about it burning out faster than normal?

some bulbs can only be used horziontally, others only vertically. while still others, can be used in both styles...
i wouldnt try it if you werent sure the bulb can be used like that... the side affects are them randomly exploding

Yea will definitely use it vertically with a glass shield.
