MH size while vegging vert?
So what is the rule of thumb for coverage etc for vegging vert with a MH? Everything I seem to read regards vert flowering. So to grow large plants, say vegging to 3', is it better to use 600w or 1000w? How close can they be to bare bulb in this style? Is there anything else I am not thinking about? I am trying to switch from horizontal.

Well the difference in your electrical bill will be less than the cost of buying a bunch of 600's and 1000's instead of just 1000s. You could just get dimmable 1000 watters and veg at 600, flower at 1000 (or the super lumens setting). And if you don't want to spend $400 on a ballast, and are planning on getting generic magnetic ballasts for $200... just veg out with the 1k's. Yes, you don't need that much for veg, but honestly... you're going to be swimming in bud.
