280z ----> V8

Has anyone done this? I have a 78 sitting out back with zero rust and a nice body. It has the I-6 in it now (non turbo) but I think I spun a bearing.

I figured may as well find an old SBC or even a newer LSx engine to throw in there.

Worth it?

I love Zs. Have you checked out hybrid z forums? They've got people swapping 4, 6, to 8 cylinders and even diesels.

I'd rebuild/replace the I-6.

rebuild the i-6 or do the turbo swap...it will be better in the long run. a big heavy ass small block will weigh the front down and need reinforcement due to excess weight and torque.

Actually it adds less that 100lbs and with the v8 mounting brackets it slides the engine back a few inches making the car even more well balanced.

The only reinforcements required is a tranny crossmember IIRC.
