Hiya, I was reading up on your site and I didn't see any way to figure out how reduced the footprint is if you choose to get the more focused 30 degree angle lenses. I'd like to figure out what kind of footprint i'd get on the 318w with a 30 degree angle so I know how many plants I could into that area. Thanks!

I don't have any 30 degree 318W's to measure, so my answer will be an estimation: your intense footprint will measure about 14" x 36", with a secondary lighting area extending to 18-20" x 40-42". If we sold more than 1% of our models as 30 degree, I would probably post such information on the site, but over 99% of our customers purchase 60 degree.

If you don't mind me asking, do you have any idea what percentage of that one percent were returning customers? I'm leaning towards 60 degree right now just because 60 degree is "standard" and I'm a newb, like most your clientele, so I'm worried about fuggin' up. But then I feel in my gut that 30 degree, while not being able to produce trees, could get happier tallish plants. Running off what you've said in other threads, however, I'd still probably top my plants. Even-canopied bushes ftw!

60 degree sounds dank for scrog, at least in my mind, but I don't wanna go scrog, nor do I have the space... nor do I even know the difference between it and sog so let's just shoot that idea down right now.

@WeedisGod, the dif between ScrOG and SOG is this:
ScrOG= Screen Of Green, involves taking a single plant and growing it through a net/screen to force a lot of main budsites on a single plant.

SOG= Sea of Green, involves taking lots of clones of a plant and running them for just the main cola, creating a 'sea' of main colas in your garden. Strains which stretch in flowering to generate a big main cola are ideal for this setup.

A sea of green doesn't have to be just a bunch of clones, my 1512W room is a "sea of green" setup. All it would take to convert it to screen, is a screen lol (and the bending that goes with it).

As per the question on return 30 degree purchases, I don't recall any, but then again about half the people I sell lights to only need 1 light for a "micro" style grow and half the people with 30 degree haven't had enough time to run a full cycle. I've had lots of returning 60 degree customers though.

I have a similar question: I'm thinking of buying an LED lamp for a 1 ft x 2 ft area that will extend my existing 4x2 area to 5x2. I'm currently using all 4 ft T5 fluoros (about 100,000 lu worth) and have been getting good crops. I have 2 questions:

- Would you recommend a 64 or 128 (approx) watt lamp for this sized area?

- Would your recommend 60 or 30 degrees, given that I will be using T5 bulbs to illuminate the sides of this area?

I'm thinking that a 64 w with 30 degree spread and about 4k lu of fluoros on each side would be a good combination. On the other hand, if the 128 isn't too much for this area, it may be smarter to get this one for use in case I eventually remove all the fluoros on top.

I appreciate any guidance you can provide.

Yo, noodles, personally I'd go either 63W/60 degree, or 126W/30 degree. Or what about two 63W panels at 30 degrees so you have more canopy control? The only thing that sucks about that is it's a little more expensive. That 126W is the cheapest ($3.37/watt) of the bunch which includes the 318 ($3.54/watt).

And for the heck of it: 63W ($3.97/watt). Not a big deal for some, but I'd rather just ante up and buy a few more watts with 3 x 126 than pay an extra $50 to consolidate everything into one panel which is less versatile to begin with, imho.

Noodles, are those T5's bloom spectrum bulbs? If at least every other one was bloom I bet you could get away with a single 63W. I think no matter which panel you buy, though, it's gonna be like compared to those fluorescents.

Most of the T5s (about 80%) are flower spectrum, the rest are veg spectrum. I'm just putting my toe in the water with regard to LEDs. I wanted to fill in the remaining foot of length in my grow area, which is hard to do with fluoros since they are usually 4 ft long. I was thinking about a 250W hps but really didn't want to get into that technology. Then I discovered this forum. I hadn't given LEDs a serious thought as a solution till I came here.

I believe I will get the 128 w lamp because it is the best buy and, if these lamps work as good s they sound like they may, I will eventually fill in my top space with 3 of these lamps, one of which I'll already have.

Sounds like a plan, man. At first I thought the LED was going on top with the T5's all around. I didn't know the LED was also supplemental. My bad if my last post was completely off base. What if you ran the T5's vertically for the last foot of length and the LED was on top, though? You could eventually buy like 2 or 4 x 2' T5's if 4' is too long to start things off this way (unless I'm still not getting you..). This way all your plants get to see that LED full view which I think will make them happy.

Do you have seperate veg and bloom rooms? Left over 4' T5's could be used for something like this. I plan on basically doing that (veg flouro, flower LED with two seperate grow rooms for each phase). Just an idea for if you haven't already contemplated it.

I'm running a 30 degree 126w on 4 plants I intend to sog. The light is intense, be careful. It actually completely melted one of my plants into a solid liquid.
