How to hang bare bulb best?
So we hung our first vertical bulb yesterday(1500w!) and it did not want to naturally hang completely vertical due to the cord. Also, with the fan on underneath it wanted to blow from side to side. What is an effective way to halt this while still having the bulb able to be moved vertically? A cable on each side?
Thanks! |

the only bad thing I see on the eye bolts that one guy posted is that they are not supposed to be load bearing on that angle but its light enough. It would just not pass an inspector. |

I took the cheapest reflector I had, drilled the pop rivets out, took the L shaped bracket and took the E40 socket off, turned it around and now the lamp hangs from a steel bracket

Bumping... We are looking at doing this soon and just looking for any more suggestions. I like labtecs, but looking for maybe an easier suggestion on how to move the lights? Unscrewing and moving those looks hard. Any suggestion of a "squeeze and move" type solution like things on an end of drawstrings only stronger? Or any other slick solution?

I just keep a ratchet and socket close by and it takes about 30 seconds to loosen and raise or lower where I want to. I use those cable clamps because I know they'll hold the weight and alot more.
Maybe you could use two chains instead of cables and use some sort of hook screw instead of those eye screws that I use. That would probably be pretty easy to move up and down. |

If you use the eyebolts out of the junction box method to hold your lights you can spread open the eybolt enough to make it a hook, and use two chains to hang the lights from. Anchoring the chains to something heavy will help prevent them from swaying.

I do it with chains, but it's a pain in the ass to put in place and remove the wire cage that goes around the bulbs.
The sockets have four or five holes that are perfect for s-hooks. You might have to tighten up the s-hook curves a little bit so the chain doesn't slip. Four chains for each bulb up to hooks in the ceiling, with the cord running from the socket up to the ceiling attached at two or three points running up one of the chain with zip-ties. |
