matisyahu

Have any of my fellow IC friends heard Matisyahu. He is a hasidic jew and a reggae genius. His music is great, I am not jewish but he is unbelievable. You would seriously think that this guy is from jamaica.

just got these yesterday

I have heard of him and I really dig his music. I first saw him on the Jimmy Kimmel Show and couldn't believe what I was hearing.

Lame, Just an old roots rip off. Same riffs and drops. I hear Bob Marley and a lot of Dennis Brown in his music. Hardly a genius, maybe just a good recycler.

THC,
he has a CD live at stubbs you can check his website out also.
Blatant,
Not quit sure how its lame unless you don't like reggae. Given that the dude is white as white can be and a hasidic jew, I find him very talented. Maybe a genius was the wrong adjective but your statement is lame.
That just my opinion

Not like Reggae?......Me?........ I be de original rude batti bwoy bumboclot seen?

But in all honesty I see nothing extraordinary from him. I don't think he brings anything new to the table. I hope you were'nt suggesting that I don't like him because he is a White Hacidic Jew.... Now that would be Lame. I applaud the effort but originality will take him further than the whole Hacidic Jew Raggae thing will.

Most roots raga is based on Zionism anyways. So it's not a big deal that he's Hasidic Jew. I've heard his album. I think it's mediocre and a lil slow. Sorry if I ruffled your feathers with my opinion..... I was just replying back to your question.

Hey you heard of Groundation? A Cali boy out of Frisco that has Concious Roots and Jazz mixed in with it. Sweet horns and a good Rythem Section behind him. Worth a listening to. His Hebron Gate album is brilliant.

If I wasn't Jamaican, why would I be wearing this hat?

Tastes are tastes, everyone's got different ones...
I thought eminem was a bad joke when I saw his first video, I guess he's laughin' now...white kid can rhyme and is a multi millionaire. It ain't lack of talent, just appeals to different tastes.
And on the recycler deal, I think everyone is a recycler, everyone mixes their influences to produce something new. Just like I can taste the NYC Diesel in the Sour Diesel, but I love it even tho I don't care too much for the reg diesel...

I think he's pretty good, some of his beatboxing is amazing too. I've seen him in the UK and he's been on tv quite a bit here.
