I would look for a bluenose pitbull, they're like sawed off mastiffs, very intimidating to look at but loyal snuggle puppies to those who know them best.

Training will make a huge difference and if trained properly, could really be any dog that you like as an adult size.
But in all seriousness, german shepard or pit or rotti will be the most common, I like caucasian mountain dogs and Black raven timberwolf crosses. For mountain dog https://vbocaucasian.com/ for the wolf cross https://www.youngwolf.com/

Chinese Shar Pei
Loyal and make good guard dogs. Very smart, and can be aloof to strangers. They're not high energy either so you'll be able to lounge around with them.

Every1 can have their opinions, but a good german breed is what you need. My fav breeds though, Dobey, rotty, shepard. Take your pick. Who would wanna take a chance with either?

Tru Dat
It is all about training.
I like poi dogs, (Mongrels). And pitts. Have a sweet, 90 pound, black, poi dog that I'd trust with my life. Un-trained? I wouldn't sleep inna same room. Just MHO. Aloha dog folks. Weezard

To each his/her own, but I'm not a big fan of cropped ears.
