The Buddy System Saves Lives, or 'Che & Strainbrain's Sour Lifesaver Extravaganza'

Your momma always told you so, and you know she wouldn't lie....

As two of the lucky ones who bought the Lifesaver-That-Wasn't in BOG's first set of auctions, Che and I have decided to run our SLS together and we're inviting you along for the ride. For my part, I took 6 of these:

And put them in RO water to soak on 12/03. By the evening of the 4th, I had this:

These germinated with no scuffing or manual help at all, strong starters for sure. I buried them a bit more than usual - it's cold and dry here and I didn't want them drying out - so 3 days later they're just beginning to pop up out of the soil. Three of them are going strong already, but I'll not take the first baby pics until they're all up and out. (I learned the value of 'synchronized' updates quickly in my BBxF13 thread. ) All 6 cracked in the soak and shot tails, so I expect 6 to come up.

My side of the room will be done in 50% FFOF/50% peat/perlite mix. Ferts will be 5-1-1 Alaska Fish, molasses, and kelp in veg with Fox Farm's organics and soluble trio in bloom. I use RO water, so Cal-Mag+ finds its way into everything. They will veg under T5HO and flower in 3.4L pots under a 250W Hortilux bulb.

Thank yous are owed to BOG for making these beans, Gypsy and the Seedbay crew for getting them into my hands quickly and safely as always, and to Che for making this project far more fun than it could otherwise have been.

Pull up a chair, settle in, spark something up, and enjoy!

Getting this thing started..

Hello everyone! Firstly, I'd like to thank StrainBrain for the warm welcome, and also for agreeing to the Grow Off! Also, I'm very appreciative of BOG's decision to make this release happen, and Gypsy for making it so. Kudos Gentlemen!! And of course, I'd like to thank you all, faithful readers, for without you this thread would be nothing. So from the bottom of my green heart, I truly thank you all!!

So, lets get down to business shall we?

Here is what my pack looked like shortly before I sliced it open..

December 3rd

For this grow I am using all 10 of my Sour Lifesaver seeds.
I began my soak at approximately 1AM EST on December 3rd, 2009. 24 hours later I placed them onto my seedling started mix;

2 parts fresh Promix
1 part EWC

Covered them a tiny bit with a touch more dirt and placed them under the T5HO's in my Veg area Top Deck. Here's the new home.. along side some DJ Short and OGA gear..
December 4

And this is what they are up to now, the happy little soldiers

December 8th

Already have an 80% germ rate, looking good! Once they all have their second set of leaves it will be into square pots and fed my own concoction of mostly tap water, a little bit of General HydroPonics 3 part nutrients (usually applied at the Lucas rates but I like to add a bit of Veg now and then), SuperThrive once a month or so, and molasses as required. I also add Big Bud during flower.

So that's what I've got so far, I hope you are as excited about this as I am!

Buds4Breakfast is on a distinguished road
This should be a nice side by side comparison. I'm planning on getting some when they drop again so this is exactly what I need.
Good luck guys!

Cheers Buds4Breakfast! That's what we were hoping for, since the two of our grows are so dissimilar in almost every way, this should provide a good spectrum of information, an interesting read and lots of pictures! I hope you can get a pack of them soon!

ufs you know I can't fault you for getting post 2, and I'm actually a little surprised that during the 5 hour window between SB opening the thread and my post, you were the only one. So enjoy, you really have the best seat in the house!

I can hardly wait...

Awesome thread and idea with the side by side grow off. I'm interested in seeing GH nutrients (lucas formula specifically) verse fox farm. I can't wait to pop SourSaver's, until that time I will have to be content watching, definitely along for the ride for this one.
