WATER QUALITY - How hard is too hard / PH in your Town
If enough people participate it will help out the "new to DWC" growers out there. The hardest thing about hydro IMO is controlling the water.
The most important part of your submission is the part about how you refine your water ______________________________ ______________________ (1) Google your town and find the water authority's site (2) Fill in the form as follows Listed pH : 6.9 Hardness : 340 mg/l (19.88 grains/gallon) Regulation (how you make water quality ideal) : ??? If you are using RO your entry may not be so helpful but still welcomed ! |

Do you grow with your tap water or use pH down? Thanks for the post - if more people get in this it will be a helpful thread |

Just got a TDS & pH tester :
pH : 7.0 PPM : 130 I used pH down last night on a test bucket and it dropped to 5.8 where I wanted it. This morning it was back up..how is this possible and what should I do? Im planning on getting GH pH down...Does pH down FOR HYDRO work better on keeping the pH constant? |

Guess how I know? yes hydro/aquarium pH up and down are more stabile. Water quality is key to growing - and my tds reading of 500 is nothing like another readers tds 500 - one may work, one may not. Learning your enviroment is key - and water is a huge part of the equasion - but it isn't always the "numbers" you need to look at - look at the plant - if it is happy and thriving - that is the key

My last grow had nice water when I moved in then a lot of new landscaping put stress on the well and TDS went from <100ppm to 250+ harder than I like but the killer, literally was the highly buffered pH of 9.5! and 80-100ppm of Na. even in well mase soil by harvest the plants were so stressed it put me out of my grow there. Considered R/O and bought the unit but decided the Op was too big to try and keep in cartriges and moved
