that much energy doesn't sound too unreasonable for me. just remember there are search warrants granted today for no other reason than a high electricity bill. sure, chances are that it wouldn't happen but its enough for my overly paranoid ass to not use that much energy, even in a house.

Don't sweat it. I run 4-1000w HPS and my bill is around $350-$400 a month. Just always pay your bill on time. The electric company is not going to question getting more money a month from you. They prefer you use alot of energy!!!lol
Peace

holy shit! if i may, what state you in? in my state there have been quite a few busts already where the high bill was the icing on the cake although i don't know how much juice they were running.

and all DO NOT be messing with your eletrics unless you KNOW what your doing;

I am a journyman sparky...HEHE,,,,

MOST houses i have seen (unless way old) are 20 AMP on #12 wire,,, IF you have #12 (and your are sure) go a head upgrade,, BUT IF your renting & growing,,, I would leave that alone..

max loads are as follows..\

#12 - 20 amp
#10- 30 amp

smoke your weed NOT your house!

ok...

heres MY mumbers..

1000 W / 115 V = 8.69 amps

you only want a 75% constant load... need to leave room for start up or surge current..

ok NOW,,, if you have a 30 AMP CKT you only want about 22 AMPs of constant draw.....

this means you can safely hook up 2.5 K watts per 30 amp CKT

BUT!! remember,,, IF you have say two 1000w or 3- 600 w you MUST stager the start up of your lights like by 15-30 min,,, they draw LOTS more on IGNITION......

Don't try to convert the wattge from your bulbs to the current draw. Add up the rated current draw written on your ballasts, the math is done for you.

75% constant load is correct safety rating. My 1000 hortilux ballast draws about 9 amps, add the draw from my mover and fans and I have about 12 amps on a 20 amp ckt.
Stagger your on times if using more than 1, high draw on startup device (ballast), most modern ballasts level off after 3 mins. Easy to gage, just time how long b4 bulb is fully illuminated. Biggest problem with multi lite systems is what happens after a power loss. All ballasts fire up at same time. 2 lites max on a 30 amp ckt if you have power failures, only 1 on 20 amp setup.

I would not put a 30 amp ckt brkr on #12 wire. If you want 30 amp service you'll need to run the heavier gage

I BEGG to differ,,, the wattage and the voltage is EXACTLY what gives you your AMP rating,,,

YOU DO USE the WATTAGE to figure the AMPS.....

see my last,,,

8.69 vice your 9... same diff just matters what voltage you caculate off of ... 110v-120v

just why 220v is more efficent IE half the amps....
