Minimizing troubles of past - Criticize this setup: Tent 120x120cm, 600w CMH, Coco

So this has been bothering me for a while and i would like to hear some opinions from you - vertical professors. The thing is that i hate scrog setups and in a 120x120cm tent it is quite a pain in the ass and LST'ing every plant on regular basis with this size tent is a pain in the ass too so i came across this one grow with bare bulb hung vertically and it really impressed me. So tell me what you think of this setup - Ultra easy to maintain:

- Hand watering coco method ~6-8 plants in 3-5 gallon buckets (No air or water pumps and less pest problems than soil = easy and quiet as f**k!)
- Growtent 120x120x200
- Bare 600w CMH bulb hanging from the roof with carbon filter at the top (And a maintenance reflector which you can take off easily to keep my eyes and skin safe while operating plants.)
- Blower on the floor under the bulb blowing hot air upwards
- Chickenwire or something equal wrapped in cylinder shape around the bulb to keep the plants from growing in too close. What distance between the plants and the bulb would you suggest with a 600w CMH lamp?

I figured that they will be needing a bit more vegging than straight horizontal scrog - disagree?

Do you have any opinions on how to train plants so that they would fill the net at the top too? Early LST perhaps and then just let them grow height?

Smash my dreams if you see a reason because i most certainly don't want to burn my house down or something like this because of lack of knowledge or experience.

And TY beforehand.

I'm no vertical professor, but I don't think they make a 600 watt CMH bulb, of my knowledge the highest wattage cmh bulb is 400 watts.

I'm growing vert in a garbage can and initially I had a 120mm fan near the bottom blowing up towards the bulb and and centrifugal fan on the exit at the top. The temps were lower with the bulb fan removed. (bulb fan- 120mm blowing towards the bulb)

No. It is not. That's just a Metal Halide bulb in a non-"bulbous" size configuration. It's fine for vegging - but you would not want to flower under that lamp.

The highest power wattage for a CMH is 400. They are made by Phillips under the brand name MasterColor (HPS-Retro White). If you want one, the best source for those are here. The "HPS" part of the brand signifies the type of ballast a CMH bulb uses - a std HPS 400w magnetic coil and core ballast.

Please nore that there are different models for the lamp depending on whether it is to be used horizontally to the plants, or when it is deployed vertically to the plants. They are not the same bulb - so get the correct one you need.

I suggest you readjust your plans to use either only one 400w CMH, or 2x400w CMH.

thats a regular metal halide bulb that is safe to use in a hps ballast.

I haven't seen any grow stores thus far carry ceramic metal halide bulbs.

Thanks guys for clearing this! I cut my earlier post and edited it for 600w hps lamp. I just have to wait for CMH technology to clear it's way to where i live...So here goes same text but with HPS lamp:

Don't use chicken wire. The holes are too small.
I have done cylnders whose holes were 2"x4".
Done again, I would use at least 4"x4".
I ran a 20" radius. Got .86 grams per watt with 3 600W lamps and 8 plants.

Why don't pros use CMH?

I would reccomend setting up a drip system, even if you manually plug in the pump one daily. Makes things easier.

4" can get too big to where the plant is hard to stick through and make stay there. I've got some 4x4 and some 4x1 in my setup, the 4x1 work good. The 4x4 just piss me off.
