55 gallon tea brewer(homeade, less then $100!)
as stated.
its all the ingrediants that add to the cost. this method produces very good tea, IMO. drum, repurposed. phatty airstone, although its the "cheap one" it works well. i suggest the DWI 'double hog' model supplies... crab shell, kelp, blood, bone, alfalpha meals, etc. fish bone meal, and kelp meal from dr earth, have benies already included. add enzymes(your fav brand) benie mycorizzal fungi and benie bacteria (your fav brand) organic b vitamins (AN, or other), and let stew for 24hours.

Digital Hippy,
Just to play devil's advocate for a second. How do you know it makes good tea? What size pump are you using? How can there be no dead zones (anearobic pockets) when your air stone only covers a fraction of the bottom of the barrel? Oh, and just FYI, it's a waste of money to add mycorrhizal fungi in your tea recipe. Mycorrhizal fungi are in dormant spore form until they come in direct contact with the roots of the plant. They will not grow out in a compost tea. You can add it to a finished tea, if applying directly to the roots of your plant or dipping the roots, or rolling the seed. Cheers, CT |

I would upgrade the pump, but if its working for you then great! I just picked up two 110 liter per minute (112 watt) air pumps to try out using compost/guano tea's in a rwc dwc type system.

Infected, be ready to be cleaning your system i did the same with my set up and im still scrubbing. I found it easier to slowly hand water the tea in and allow no run off. works great and my plants love the boost. And if you werent putting it in ur res never mind. just my 2 cents

That's one of the issues with air stones, they're nearly impossible to clean and you get bio-film buildup that affects the quality of your tea.
I use and have tested a 51 liter/min pump for a 5 gal bucket. This would be the minimum level of aeration at this size container with the design I'm using. A good standard for motors is .08 cfm/gal. |
